Coral, Do you have a birth date for your William Barker? I have a William Barker who died in N.Y. but his son and daughter went west. Ron __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo. http://search.yahoo.com

I have an ELISHA Barker b/1820 in Virginia, s/o John "Slim Jack" barker 1791-1861 Washington Co. Va. and Sarah Bays. Elisha's brother, Edmund, had a son, Elisha Peter Barker, born Mendota, Va. and died in Houston, Texas. Sept. 1866--Feb. 1829. This info from J.K.. Barker.
Do you have a wife or children for your Elias Barker? I think mine was born in Mo, but not for sure on that. Claudia
Elias was m. to Martha Ann Lambert. She was b. in KY. They had several children. Francis Marion (Frank) Barker b. 1852 James R Barker b. 1859 Hiram Jackson Barker b. 1862 Susan M. Barker b. 1867 Jesse Netter Barker b. 1872 There may be additional children but I can't find them on any Census records. Martha b. 1856 Margaret B. b.1866 Mary A b. 1852 Mattie b. 1856 Elias also m. Ruben Barker's widow Paulina Rowland Barker on 19 Jun 1895. On the 1850 Census for Daviess Co KY it states that Elias was an engineer and that he was b. IN. It also says he was a farmer. He was on the 1900 Census with Pauline. I hope this help link us together..... I need to find out who Elias belongs too. At one time someone told me that he was Samuel Fletcher Barkers son but she did not have him listed on Samuel Barkers will. I think he may have been Samuel's son but might have been disowned from the family for some reason. Elias was a member of the "Templars of Honor"; kind of like the masonic organization. Maybe his father disowned him for that. If you think you connect, let me know and I will send you additional information. Thanks for the reply. My great grandfather, James Barker, was born (maybe) in Vermont about 1797. His son James Barker was born in Goshen Gore, Vermont about 1813-21 (he gave his birthdate different every time) He had two brothers William and John G. born in Vt. and a sister, Rachael born in NY. That is all the siblings I know of. They were in New York, Michigan and Iowa. James Jr,'s son Austin Barker was born in 1855 in Delhi, Delaware Co, Iowa and later, Moline, Ill, Council Bluffs, Omaha and Colorado. I am not sure what happened to William and John G. Barker. I am told that one went west and one went to Missouri. They were in the Iowa census in 1860 but after that I can find no record. I looked at the 1880 census. I keep posting, hoping someone will come along that will know at least one of them! I have always been told that they came from Rhode Island originally. I've been looking for my Barkers for 30 years. Closest I've gotten is my gggrandpa, George Barker, who md. Denisa Sharp Dec.26, 1833 in Rockingham Co, NC. Their son John Allen Barker, b.1844 in Rockingham Co,NC is my ggrandfather. He also had an older bro, Henry T.Barker, b.1835. By 1850, George Barker is no longer listed on the Rockingham Co,NC census, but Denisa Barker is listed with sons Henry T, age 15 & John A, age 6. Although I find many George Barkers in Rockingham, none seem to fit mine. My ggrandpa John Allen Barker served with the 45th NC Confederate Infantry & was captured April 6, 1865 near Burkesville,VA. He was released from Pt.Lookout,MD Federal Prison on June 26, 1865. He md. Nancy Jane McKillip in 1867. She was the dau. of James T.McKillip & Malinda Perry of Rockingham Co. John & Nancy Barker's eldest child was name George, who was b.1867 in NC. Around 1870, they moved to the Knightstown,IN area along with many of the McKillips, including in-laws James T.& Malinda McKillip. It was in Knigh tstown,In that my grandpa Chas.Oliver Barker was b. in Sept.1873. In about 1883, John Allen Barker & family moved to Laurel Co,KY, where my mom (Esther Marie Barker) was b. in 1922. Any leads would be appreciated. I have much on the McKillips & Perrys, but little on the Barkers before my ggranpa. My grandpa used to see he was "Black Dutch & Red Irish". Gerald Eaton
Gary, What Barkers are in the book you spoke of? I'm related to Barkers that lived in Mo in 1800's. G-grandfather was a Josh Barker born in Mo @1856. Father Elias or Elies Barker. Thanks, Claudia Barker Franklin
I am also a NC Barker. Ashe County, NC Brenda Barker
I'm looking for: Sean Barker Katrina Barker Lium Barker Colm (Colum?) Barker and last but certainly not least Declin Barker born in Ireland. They are my siblings. If you have any leads, please contact me. Regards, bermudameg@hotmail.com
Gary, I'm also a N Ca Barker, where are you? Linda If the web is alien to you let us do your research for you AlienWebResearch.com When it has to be done right.
My barker was a John too, but apparently there were a lot of them around at the turn to the 19th century. My John came from Bradford (I believe if family stories are to be true), and he and his wife Elizabeth moved to Leeds probably after the christening of their first child, Mary. That was recorded in the Bradford records for 1786, and the next child to John and Mary was baptised in Leeds. The researcher failed to let me have the names of those further siblings, so now I am still at that point in my life line, the same point of five years ago. I have had great difficulty in accessing any records of the Yorkshire, especially Bradford and Leeds, area through the online system. You either have to go to the records office personally, or pay enormous amounts of money over the internet, which I am reluctant to do. So therefore I am left with the only alternative, and that is to close the books on the Barkers. Hello All, I've noticed the recent messages about Barkers from England. My Barker line originated in Todmorden, Lancaster, England. Young Barker and his wife, Sarah Collinge, came to the U.S. in 1884/85 with their four young children, Susannah, Selina, Sarah Jane (my g-grandmother), and Thomas, settling in Little Falls, Herkimer, New York. I have recently acquired certified birth certificates for the girls, and the marriage certificate of Young and Sarah. Through this, I have finally learned Young's father's name of John Barker and his mother, Sarah Dewhirst; John was deceased in 1875 when Young and Sarah were married. I know nothing of his mother. There are still some Barker descendants living in New York and North Carolina and I have been in touch with two of them, but I'm stumped going any further back than John. I'm not sure if anyone else has these names in their lines, but if you do, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Other children's names include Livingston, Fred, Mary, and Wallace; all dying in infancy except Livingston. Thank you, Linda Johnson
Hi Karen, Do you have any idea of what country or state you feel your Elias Barker should be?. I don't have him in my Barker line. But I came across a couple of his name in searching my line.
