In 2002, there was a Barefoot album of photographs, tintypes, etc up for sale on EBay. It was priced way over my budget so I couldn't bid on it. Howeve, I did copy the information the seller had posted. I have NO idea of how accurate this information is. I'm sending it just for the information and in case it might provide some clues to other searchers. THIS FABULOUS PHOTO ALBUM ITSELF IS QUITE A FIND...PURCHASED IN THE LATE 1800s IT CONTAINS 22 ( TWENTY TWO ) TINTYPE PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN BETWEEN 1850 AND 1880 OF THE BAREFOOT FAMILY OF NORTH CAROLINA AND ALABAMA...THE FIRST RECORDS OF THIS FAMILY ARE OF NOAH BAREFOOT BORN IN 1616 IN VIRGINIA, WHO MARRIED JOLINDA CREED IN 1646 , WHOSE GRANDFATHER R.CREED WAS BORN IN ENGLAND IN 1559... MOST EARLY RECORDS FOUND IN CENSUS RECORDS, STATE HERITAGE AS JUST INDIAN... I THINK THEY WERE CREEK INDIANS...BUT STARTING IN 1646 THE BAREFOOT FAMILY WAS ALREADY MARRYING THE ENGLISH SETTLERS DAUGHTERS... THIS CONTINUED FOR MANY GENERATIONS ,, UNTIL LAFAYETTE BAREFOOT MARRIED MARY JANE ALLEN SEPT 29, 1883... THEY ARE THE LAST GENERATION WHOSE PHOTOS APPEAR ,, EXCEPT A UNNAMED BABY WITH LAFAYETTE IN THE LAST PHOTO IN THE ALBUM...SINCE THE FAMILY MERGED INTO THE ENGLISH CULTURE IN THE 1600s, THESE ARE NOT PHOTOS OF THEM IN INDIAN DRESS...LAFAYETTE WAS BORN IN THE 1860s AND MARY JANE ALLEN BORN SEPT 2 , 1866... JESSE GREEN BAREFOOT, LAFAYETTE'S FATHER WAS BORN IN OCT , 1837,, SEVERAL PHOTOS INCLUDE HIM.. HIS FATHER WAS MILES BAREFOOT BORN IN 1791.. IN NORTH CAROLINA...JESSE BAREFOOT INTERMARRIED HIS FIRST COUSIN,,, NICEY BAREFOOT BORN 1839, THEY HAD A DAUGHTER TOO,,NICEY FRANCES BAREFOOT... PICTURES INCLUDE A ,, CLAUD BAREFOOT AND A BABY LISTED AS JESSE BAREFOOT.. A LOT OF THE PHOTOS DO NOT HAVE NAME IDENTIFICATION... SOME ARE OF OLDER MEN, SOME WOMEN, BABYS AND THE FIRST PHOTO WITH 8 FAMILY MEMBERS... I COULD GO ON AND ON.. I TOOK PAGES OF NOTES... IT WAS A GAS TO RESEARCH...THE ALBUM IS HEAVY WEIGHT PADDED AND CLOTH COVERED,, INSIDE IT SAYS GERMANY..AN EARLY IMPORT...OUTSIDE ,,, ALBUM,,, AND SEWN DECORATIONS....FRONT COVER PULLED AWAY FROM BINDING.. PARTIAL METAL CLASP REMAINING...HEAVY THICK FRAMING PAGES , HOLD A PHOTO ON EITHER SIDE... PAGES THEMSELVES ARE FINE BUT PAPER HOLDING THE TINTYPES IN PLACE,,, IS FRAIL AND FALLING APART... HARD WORK HOLDING HEAVY TINTYPES IN PLACE 120 OR MORE YEARS...TINTYPES IN VARYING DEGREE OF QUALITY , DEPENDING ON HOW OLD EACH IS I GUESS...SOME ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION ,,, SOME ONLY FAIR... BUT NONE HAVE FADED AWAY... KEPT SAFE FROM MOST HARM BY THE ALBUM ALL THESE YEARS....THE FACT THAT THEY ARE 1850 TO 1880 TINTYPES ALONE AND STILL EXIST AND VIEWABLE IS AMAZING...I BELIEVE THE EARLY FAMILY WERE MEMBERS OF THE CREEK TRIBE.. THERE WERE MANY BANDS AND THEY WERE INTEGRATED INTO THE SETTLERS VERY EARLY IN AMERICAN HISTORY AS EAST COAST NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS...THERE ARE STILL A LOT OF BAREFOOTS IN NORTH CAROLINA AND ALABAMA.. EVEN SOME IN FLORIDA AND ONE FAMILY IN ALASKA....PLEASE SEE ALL SIX ATTACHED PHOTOS....FABULOUS TINTYPES...FABULOUS VERY EARLY AMERICAN INDIAN HISTORY.....
