Carol, The first Barefoot-Register marriage that I know of is Christopher "Chris" Register to Barbara Barefoot of Sampson Co. NC. Barbara Ellen Barefoot (3 Oct. 1879 - 14 Sept. 1928) was the daughter of Reddin Barefoot and Annie Tart. There were also several Barefoot-Register marriages in the 1820s in Columbus Co. NC. Since you mentioned Redden as a possible name I figured the Sampson Co. line may be yours.
