THERE ARE 14 DAVID BAREFOOTS IN MY DATA SO, IT IS HARD TO TELL WHICH ONE YOU ARE REFERENCING WITHOUT A BIRTH DATE OF SOME KIND. The Miles Barefoot b. 1811 in SC and died abt. 1860 in Pile Co. Ala. was married 1st to Elizabeth Broxton b. abt. 1815..married on 12-06-1828 in Pulaski Co., Ga. I have them down as having 13 children...1. Joel B. b. 1830, 2. Martha b. 1832, 3. James D. 1833, 4. Lurany b. 1834, 5. Shadrack b. abt. 1835, 6. Noah b. 1838, 7. Elizabeth b. 1840, 8. Nancy b. 1842, 9. Lucinda b. 1844, 10. Mary b. 1846, 11. Sarah Ellen b. 1849, 12. William Oliver b. 1852, 13. Alexander L. b. 1853. Miles married 2nd Mary McGuire 1859 in Pike Co. Ala. They had no children. In the 1850 Census of Pike County, Alabama, Miles is living with wife Elizabeth and 10 of their children. The oldest is Joel who is living next door to them with his wife Margaret. According to John P. Johnston a local historian in Pike County, Alabama, Miles is buried in a rural area of Pike County, Alabama. Mr. Johnston also states this family of Barefoots changed their name to Barfoot while living in Alabama. It has been such a long time since this family has been discussed until I really don't know which of these children you may descend from. Bozeman 54 mother-in-law 1850 Census for Joel Barefoot Pike County, Alabama Census in 1850 lists Joel age 20 and born in Georgia with Margaret age 24 and born in South Carolina. They are living next door to his parents Miles and Eliza Barefoot. Listed on the International Marriage Records, 1560-1900 Joel Barfoot born in Georgia in 1830 married Margaret Jane Baker born 1826 in 1850. Pike County, Alabama Census in 1860 lists Joel age 29 with Margaret J. age 33 but born in Alabama. Children listed are Leander age 9, Elizabeth; Rachel E. age 5; Margaret A. age 3; Isaac J. age 1 and William O. age 8. Joel enlisted in the Civil War on February 12, 1861. Montgomery County, Alabama Census for 1870 lists Mary J. age 44, Levi age 19, Rachel age 14, John J. age 9 and Jackson A. age 7. Hope this helps.
