    3. This is a note I found among some of my aunt's papers. I think she was trying to find out why her g-grandfather had Tipton as a middle name. He was John Tipton Barefoot, son of Dillon Barefoot and Nancy Choate. I'm sending it in case it might prove of any help to someone else. The information is at the very least about 25 years old. Esau Tipton, son of Major Jonathan Tipton, was born ca 1808 an married Nancy Jane Choate b.ca 1827 (Information from Lura Boudreaux, El Paso Texas; Callie Creekmore, Jamestown, Tn.) Esau Tipton & Nancy Choate had only one son, William M. Tipton. Nancy married 2nd, John Culver & had 2 boys, Jacob & Dow, who never married & fought in the Union Army in the Civil War. The lady sending this to my aunt mentioned a book about the Tipton Family. I've found about three such books mentioned on the internet. "The Tipton Family" by W. Hord Tipton (approx. 1948) "We Tiptons and Our Kin" by Ervin Charles Tipton (1975) "We Tiptons and Our Kin" by Rev. Ervin Charles Tipton Charles D Tipton, "Tipton. The first Five American Generations.A short History of The Tipton Family", Gateway Press Inc. 1998, Baltimore, MD, http://home.att.net/~tiptongen/acafb.htm, 7 Sep 2000. From the publication dates, I would imagine the book referred to was the first one, "The Tipton Family". Does anyone know where I could find a copy? Or copies of the other ones? Thanks Barbara
