He is my gggrandfather. He married a Mary E. Anderson, born in georgia. John W. served in the Civil war with the 11th Cav. from Texas. He died in May, 1926 and is burried in Mangum, OK. He had four daughters. There is a lot of info out there for John. But there is not much on Mary. I am trying to find out where and when she died. Sometime between 1900 and 1906. NC census. He was 19 years old on the 1860 Sampson Co. census in the same household. BY the 1870 census he is dead with widow Jerusha and son Julius E. Jackson living with her mother in Johnston Co. It is possible that he was killed in the Civil War as he was a perfect age to be a soldier. Eden Jackson left a Sampson Co. NC will that named all his living children and his grandson Julius E. Jackson son of John W. Jackson, deceased in 1871. Eden Jackson was the son of Nancy Barefoot and James Jackson. Nancy Barefoot was the daughter of Noah Barefoot and Rosannah UNK. James Jackson was the son of Lewis Jackson and Martha UNK. Jerusha Barefoot was the daughter of Noah Barefoot and Elizabeth Godwin. NC. She married John Willie Jackson son of Eden and Leanna Jackson. She married second to William Westbrook Tart son of John Tart and Susannah Ingram. The 1870 census has Jerusha and son Julius Jackson living with her mother Elizabeth. She married Tart in 1871. We know her first husband's name from her father Noah's estate record found at Archives in Raleigh, file CR.056.501.23. The 1880 census has William W. Tart, Jerusha, and children Louis C., Noah D., William J., Rosannah and Julius E. Jackson age 17, listed as a step-son of William Tart. Jerusha had three more Tart children: Mary Eliza, Redden Bright, and Mattie Tart. Notice that the 1880 census has his name as Julius E. Jackson. I don't know any more about him after this census. John BAREFOOT and family came to Texas by the late 1830's settled in Northeast Texas, Red River Co, Tituss Co. Morris Co. and Cass Co. Texas.
