Some of them had the same first names as well. Reddin Bright TART was the son of Jerusha Barefoot and William Westbrook TART. He married Ellen Hinson. Jerusha Barefoot had a brother named Reddin Bryant BAREFOOT. Their parents were Noah Barefoot and Elizabeth Godwin. This Noah Barefoot was in the War of 1812 and his widow Elizabeth applied for a pension. He was married twice and had by his first (unknown name) wife: Rosanna, Clarky, Bright, Ava Ann, Sarah, John, Noah B., Susan; and by Elizabeth Godwin he had: James R., Joel G., Nancy, Barbara, Mary J., Jerusha, Reddin Bryant and Elizabeth Barefoot. I have no record of a Reddin Bright Barefoot, only Reddin Bryant Barefoot. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: ShirleyJSherrod Surnames: Barefoot Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.barefoot/290.4.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My Grandfather came over to Canada in the early 1900's from the Redding, England area. There are many Barefoot's in that area, as there are many other areas of England. Again, the family lore is that the original family came from Norway and the name was probably Barfett or a derivative of the same. There are also Barefoot's in Australia, at least I have family ties there. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Family lore states the name is Norse, if I recall correctly. I'd be happy to just make the link to a country of origin from the 1600's or 1700's. Author: Sheldinx Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.barefoot/290.4/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Your 'cousin' Becky Barefoot and I traveled to eastern PA around 1995 to delve into the Barefoot-Ross lineage. The Barefoot line magically appears in PA in the 1700's. We put a family together for Benjamin, whose father was most likely Samuel Barefoot from Chester County, PA. Where the Barefoots came from at that point - it could be that they arrived in Virginia or North Carolina and made their way north. There are early Barefoots in both Virginia and NC but we haven't been able to devote time to research and see whether our Samuel (b. ca 1720) can be proven to come up from either of these lines. We are always glad to welcome a new researching cousin. My line is from James, eldest brother of Job, who was born in 1788 to Rebecca and Benjamin. I am trying to find out info. on a Margaret Barefoot who married a Robert Adair, in Antrim ,Ireland around Ballymena on Sept.15.1826. I have ancestors who came to Canada in 1873 and my gr.grandfather Adair's mother is listed as Bearsford, but believe it may be Barefoot,. Gr. grandpa nad his father were both named Robert. I think that the census takers may have spelled her surname wrong. Am interested in any research you have discovered on the Barefoot family. She was married to Jacob Roshon. The only data I have (not sure how accurate) is 1773 and died in 1847. She died in Liberty Twp. Fairfield County, Ohio. I am from Job's oldest brother's line, James, born 1788. Becky and I have done quite a bit of research on the Barefoots but cannot really get much further than Benjamin and the man we believe to be his father, Samuel Barefoot.
