Noah B. Barefoot was the son of Noah Barefoot (1790-1852) who was a veteran of the War of 1812. Noah's father was also Noah Barefoot (c. 1760s-1833) and the father of this last Noah was also Noah (c.1725-1793). This last Noah was the first Noah Barefoot in NC. He was in eastern NC by 1745 where he bought land in Craven Co. which later became Johnston Co. where all these Noahs lived. We believe this Noah was the son of John Barefoot of Surry County, Virginia, whose father was also Noah Barefoot of Surry County, Virginia. So you have Noah, John, Noah, Noah, Noah, Noah B. Barefoot. We do not know if the early Noahs had a middle name or not. My line is the same up to Noah B.Barefoot. His brother Bright Barefoot continues my line. Hope this helps. I also do not know of any one named Noah Gideon Miles Barefoot. There was a Noah Gideon Barefoot and several Miles Barefoots. He was born in Edgecomb Co NC in 1823, had a twin brother named Andrew Jackson. I am trying to locate their father. He owned a grist mill in now Wilson NC, and had a large farming operation. We have not yet came across convincing evidence of his father. Although their is evidence he owned land in the same location as Jeptha Barefoot Sr. There was much land in his will distributed to his heirs. I have a suspicion his father may have been Jeptha's grandson through Noah. Their is a word of mouth history that GW's father was named John. Noah's son John we know inherited property, bot know very little about him other than he was bonded out to a John Morris when Noah died. Noah Barefoot (without the G) was born in 1790 in Johnston Co. to Noah Barefoot and Rosannah (last name not known). His first wife's name is not known). He married second to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Godwin. He died about 1851. In his estate records at NC Archives, Bright Barefoot (his son and my line) was named administrator. Kilba Lassiter was named guardian to Nancy Barefoot Godwin wife of Hiram Godwin. Nancy was Noah's youngest child and even though married she was not 21 years old. This Noah and his first wife had children: Rosannah, Clarky, Bright, Ava Ann, Sarah (Sally), John, Noah B., Susan. Children of Noah Barefoot and Elizabeth Godwin: James R., Joel G., Nancy, Barbara. Mary J., Jerusha, Reddin, and Elizabeth. Hope this helps. My great aunt Mary (Mary Orr Russel of Reserve New Mexico) had contacted him years ago through her mother and grandmother's letters. (Her mother was Mary Lucinda Bundrandt and her grandmother Nancy Hancock Bundrant.) Amon Carter was a Texas Millionaire who founded the Amon Carter Museum. Nancy Hancock Bundrant's sister Mary Ann married a Carter and was the ?grandmother of Amon Carter.
