He was my Grand Father and your mom was my Aunt. I am the daughter of Donald Bundrant. He joined the navy when he was young and we moved to the east coast. By the time we moved back most of my cousins had moved away. I dont think that I have ever met you but i did meet Patty once. I was a baby when we moved to the east coast. You mom passed away before we came back. I wish I could have known her. I have also heard stories from my dad about having Native American blood in us. He said that is was a male in the family that married an indian. He also mentioned Billy the Kid but said that it was a family member the killed him?? Would love to hear from you. I dont have contact with many cousins on my dads side and would love to get in touch with more. It would be great to have a reunion. Please email me at dawnellvaughn@yahoo.com when you get a chance. She lived in Charlotte, North Carolina until a year ago when she moved to Olathe. Hazel graduated from Central High School in 1939 and was a dedicated member of the Avondale Presbyterian Church in Charlotte where she played in the hand bell choir. She also loved crafts, ceramics, and cooking. She is preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Stevens Horton (1917-1998) after 53 years of marriage. Survivors include two daughters, [Hazel] Elaine [Horton Snook] Cavener and her husband Larry, and Dr. [Eloise] Gail [Horton] Chewning and her husband Tom, as well as two granddaughters, Kathryn [Snook] Stang and husband Mike and Heather [Snook] Kosinski and husband Rob, and five great-grandsons. Inurnment will be at Avondale Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. ------- This was my beloved grandmother. From my past research, Hazel is a descendant of Miles Pinkney Barefoot, but I changed computers and didn't move my files yet so now I can't figure out how! Anyway...in case anyone has her in their family tree, just wanted to provide the update.
Hi Janine, I read your post. I am the g g granddaughter of Winifred "Winnie" Barefoot West. Their mother was Clarky Barefoot, single, who married Wiley Jackson after all the children were grown up. Winnie had one brother, John and 2 sisters, Mary and Faithy. Is Faithy and Faith the same person? Did she marry a Jeremiah or Jerry Langston from Newton Grove, NC in Sampson County. Is it possible that Ella was the same person as Ella? If so, we are cousins. One of my white cousin, Dan Jackson gave me this information, he is the grandson of, Bright Barefoot, who was g g grandmother Clarky's brother. Bright Barefoot. If so, I can help you, I have information on Faithy's children, but nothing more. I have a census for this family. Let me know if this is the same person. John was white, but the girls were stated as Mulatto. Someone told me that the girls may have had the same father. Winnie death certificate states that the father was UNK. Janine were do you live? I live in Greenbelt, MD outside of Washington, DC. But I was born in Sampson County, Westbrook Township, Dunn, NC near Newton Grove, NC. I do have quite a bit of Barefoot genealogy and most of it was given to me by Dan. He is very helpful. My father told us when we were children that we were related to the Langston in Newton Grove. Now we know how. Alice West Ferguson
