Do you have more information on her family? My great-grandparents came from Franklin Co., NY and there supposedly was an Eva born around 1900 which does not relate to your great-grandmother's age. This line of Barbers is "Barbeau" in Canada and Barber in the US. They were of French-Canadian descent, possibly with Metsis blood also. I have information tracing both my paternal great grandparents back to the 1600's in France. They came from very large families for which I have been unable to trace many members. They are found in the Bellmont and Malone, NY censuses and old correspondence with relatives. The spelling of given names vary and spelling is questionable. The census recorder probably was unable to understand their dialect, plus they possibly did not speak English, nor could they read and write according to the census. This is where a name as simple as Barber is recorded as Barbo, Barbeau, Barbi, etc. Perhaps we have a connection.
