Don't forget to use the great resource found in the Genealogy columnists who publish queries in newspapers. The most recent statistic I have heard is that only 10 percent of genealogists are on-line. Genealogy columnists who print queries in local or regional newspapers provide a great resource. Society journals are another in-print query resource to specifically target your query to the readers interested in a particular locale. Newspaper queries in advance of a research trip can provide the opportunity to prepare and meet local researchers. Other helpful hints for research trip preparation can be found in the archives of the research-trip-l@rootsweb.com list at http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Miscellaneous/RESEARCH-TRIP.html See http://bostonstates.rootsweb.com for the section "How to place queries in Canadian and other Northeast newspapers " for the columnists that I have listed for the Boston States Migrations region. I currently have listing for Sandra Devlin, Judy Ash, Lee Jeffries, Erlene Davis, Ruby Cussack as well as Dave LePitre's columns. I will be updating the Boston States Migrations page with the on-line links now available for Dave LePitre's Stanstead Journal column below. Please, let me know if there are other newspaper genealogy columnists in the region that I may also add.
