    3. Hi, I am a new member to the list and I hope someone out there can help find the parents of my g.g.father Isaac Barber. Family history places him in N.Y. state at birth in 1828-9 and I know he was in Illinois by 1860. Also, Isaac seems to be a name used in this line for first and or second born sons. I find the name still in use among my uncle's and g. uncle's as late as the 1900's, this may help identfy the correct line. My question then is, does anyone have a Barber ancestor born between 1820-1840 in N.Y. that has a sibling or cousin named Isaac or Robert J. ? I would appreciate hearing from you, perhaps we can break through the wall created when g.g.Isaac left N.Y. Charles N. Barber cbbnc@mediaone.net

    3. In response to Charles N. Barber's query..... I have several Barber's from New York...Groveland, Livingston Co., NY. My gg grf left for Illinois about 1852 and landed in Lenawee Co. Mi, had another child and migrated to McDonough Co., Illinois. There are many Barber's from that area who migrated from the southern part of the U.S. and the northern part, too. According to an obituary of an ancestor, there was a Samuel Barber in Peoria, IL; Charles Barber in Hudson, MI; Phineas Barber in Dundee, MI; Rebecca Barber in Thetford, MI. They were brother's and sister's who migrated from New York going west approx. the same time...1860-1870. I have several Isaac Barber's in my line, but none that were born abt. 1828-29. I also have a Robert Barber and many many John's ! If the names & places are familiar to you I would be pleased to hear. 3. Thanks, Joan for responding. I can't make a connection to any places you mention, and since your Isaac was not born in 1828-9 there is no help there either. I believe g.gf. Isacc's father's name was Alexander or Alexander could have been his uncle, I'm not sure.
