Linda, Its a possibility. Although a sea captain traveling to land locked Anson to have a farm and family seems unlikely. It could have just been an honorific also. Anyway, two Captain John Barbers within a hundred miles of each other,at about the same time, with about the same life spans, is sure driving me crazy! It seems too conincidental but I have run across some strange coincidences on other lines. Thanks to Kevin for posting on the John Barber of Tryon/Lincoln. Perhaps if we compare data between the two, we can sort them out. Is there any record of John Barber of Tryon/Lincoln serving in the legislature? Could someone post his family sheet?
