Hi Linda, In the 1900 census Matilda Barber, John's widow states that she had 9 children and 2 are living. In all the census I have for them 1850 - 1900 Braxton and Clay Co., VA now WV. I can only account for seven children. The only son that I have listed for John and Matilda Barber is a Thomas J. Barber and Thomas had a son named John Henry Barber. I believe they may have bound out some of the children for service, Louisa was not in the 1850 census but she showed up in the 1860 census at the age of 18. The other 2 children may have done the same and never come back to the family unit or may have died young. Sure wish I could find an 1840 census for John or maybe court records on his children. The girls names were Lucinda, Ruth R., Catherine, Martha Ann, Louisa and Ruth A. and a boy Thomas J.(Don't know what the J. is.) Thanks for responding...
