Marilyn, Maybe my ancestor was "in the same boat" as yours. I also have a Barber (Joseph b 1803)who seems to have been all alone in the world as far as I can tell. He was b in Franklin Co, VA, I think. I have other lines who were in Pittsylvania Co, so this post got my attention. Joseph named his kids: Isaac, Martha Jane, Sanders, William, James P, Celia (for wife), Joel A, Sarah E, and Mary Ellen. Sometimes naming patterns give clues. Anything look promising?
