I am looking for Edwin Barber b. August 20, 1886, Syracuse, Onondaga, New York. (source: WWI draft registration card) At some point he moves to Illinois marries and my Grandmother is his daughter. She was born in 1913. Edwin died in WWI from the flue epidemic. I have searched and searched for Edwin and his family....they are very elusive. Except for the draft registration card and information gleaned from my Grandmother...I have basically come up empty handed. Anybody have leads on which family he may belong to? -Cathy Wilson

Where did you get Mary Yates as Fredrick's mother? David, Although your James and Penelope Barber were members of Mars Hill Baptist Church, Oconee Co. (then Clarke Co.), GA where Rachel Daniell's family were members, I've seen no mention of Rachel's husband (m. 1810 Clarke Co.) William Barber (1789-1876) in that church's records. Looking over the family of James and Penelope on your website I don't see any familiar names. At this point I don't really see a connection between my William Barber and your James Barber or Capt. George Barber. Do you know of any? Ken David W. Morgan wrote: > On Sun, 30 Jan 2000, Janet/Paul Davis wrote: > > > Ken, > > I've run into your William a few times in my research. I know there were Barbers in this area, a generation before that but I don't know the parents names or other connections. My nearer ancestor, Robert Barber, c. 1814, emigrated to the Guelph area of Canada in 1836. His mother, Elizabeth Moore was c. at St. Margaret's, Southelmham just NE of Fressingfield. In fact, Robert's parents (William and Elizabeth) were living in the Cratfield parish house prior to Robert's departure for Canada. How close are your Barbers to the Norfolk/Suffolk border? I'd love to try and get back beyond the 1434 date, but I haven't a clue now how to proceed. Best regards, Laurence Barber

Carmen, I did not intend to seem ungrateful. I wish I could find a connection and there may well be one. The names indicate a connection. But I just don't know how to proceed, I guess. I thought maybe I could come in by a "back door" or something. My Joseph was b 1804 or close to that year. If he were your Moses bro, that would be a connection. Do you have any thoughts on that. Laurence, I'd be interested to know when and where your line initially emigrated. I've encountered records of a Barber who was sheriff in Dunwich, co. Suffolk, England in the 1400s.
