Hi, I am a direct descendant through Moses also. I am descending through his son Daniel and Deliverence Tefft. Could you tell me what info you might have about Daniel? Thank You, Bobbie eibob@aol.com
Hi W Barber, I don't suppose you have in your records a Joseph Barber b abt 1803, do you? Can't find parents for him. He was b in VA, I am pretty sure. He married in Franklin Co, VA to Celia Jones in 1830. Warren, You are absolutely correct. Most researchers are now convinced that Moses Barbers 1st wife was Ann BABCOCK. I descend from her son William who married Mumford and then Smith. Please put the state along with the county in your e-mails as some of us are reading everything and don't know where Washington County is. Thank You. I'm still trying to connect my Aaron Barber, and descendants to this list. He lived in upper N.Y. then moved to Rutland, Vermont where he froze to death while hunting in the Greene Mountains. I wish I was related to Moses it seems there's lots on his family and who knows maybe someday. Phyllis Galloway in BC, Canada
Hi, I am a descendant of Moses and then his son William. I have some information but would appreciate any you would be willing to share. Bobbie eibob@aol.com
Hello Glen I am a direct descendant of Moses Barber. His first wife by whom he had three children has not been identified. Susanna was his second wife by whom he had 14 children. In the Washington County records her maiden name is spelled both WEST AND WAIT at different times though her father's name in all records has been spelled WEST. I have information on most of his children and their descendants that I will share with anyone who needs it. Also a history of Moses. Warren WBarber380@aol.co
Here is a article from Birmingham Alabama on the Barber Dairy if anyone can use: newspaper article dated 7/16/1958 Birmingham News that states William H. Barber was a native of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Mr. Barber came to Birmingham Alabama in 1922 with his brother and they established Barber Brothers Dairy that year. Mr. Barber 2 daughters: Jeanne Fletcher and Mrs. Warrene Steidinger. He had a nephew named George Warren Barber (son of his brother whose name is not listed in the article). ________________ Joyce (Morgan) English Crenshaw Co.AL.page: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/River/1757/ Email: jcenglish@fcbl.net

Good morning Sandy, I have a Moses Barber in my family genealogy. He was born in Exeter, Rhode Island in the year 1652. He married Susannah Waite and later Susannah West. They had a total of 17 children. Susannah West traces back to George Soule from the Mayflower group. If you need more information, contact me at king@vallnet.com . Best wishes, Glenn H. Good evening Linda, Sometimes when you are doing genealogy you can't see the trees for the forest. Yes there is a 28 year gap between children. I could have perhaps made a typo or picked up some bad information from another provider. The Barbers that I have been working with lived in Rhode Island until the mid 1800's then they went to NY, PA, KA, . If you think that it will help you with your research I could send my Barber Family genealogy to you. It is quite large and takes up a lot of computer space. It has over 5245 names , 1375 being Barber sur names. Let me know. Hi Richard, I think you and I may have a connection! In your email below, you mention a Samuel F. Barber b. 1784 and d. 7/25/1843. I have a Samuel Barber b. 7/5/1787 in PA, married Sarah Tomlinson on 9/12/1812 in Scioto Co., Ohio. Samuel died 8/12/1843. The birth and death date are very close to what you show. Samuel Barber was a private in the War of 1812 under John Lucas' Company in Scioto County. He served from April 27, until September 30, 1812. He also served with Joseph Bonser (my relation and maiden name), Thomas Moore, John Moore and Joseph Barber. I show Samuel Barber's parents being Uriah Barber, Jr. and Barbara Clingman. Uriah was born 1/3/1761 in Northumberland Co., PA. Uriah Barber's parents were I believe John Barber and Elizabeth White. Elizabeth White married a Bonser after John Barber died. Any connection? Hi, Still looking for Jefferson Barber and his wife Hannah A. Carpenter. Both were born somewhere in NY, probably around 1815-1820. Nothing further known except they had at least 2 children, Lucy b. 1841 in NY and John b. ?. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Barbara
David, Joe, & everyone, I was told some time back that there was a deed, Charles Moore to his daughter, Elizabeth Barber, in1747 in Augusta County before she married Mathew Patton. I have not been able to find it or find anyone that has a copy - so I'm still looking for documents to prove the Moore connection. If anyone on the list has a copy, would you please let us know it exhists & where you found it & what it says. One possibility for parents of George...John Barber and Elizabeth Songhurst Barber came from Sussex, England on the ship "Welcome" to Chester, Pa in August of 1682. Also her father John Songhurst made the trip. In 1682 both John Barber and John Songhurst were granted land by Wm. Penn. Also, Sarah Barber, dtr of George and Elizabeth, married Reese Watkins of Chester, PA in 1757. Also, Reese Watkins was brother of Margaret Watkins of Chester PA who married George Barber II in 1767. Also, some of the Barbers' neighbors in VA came from the Chester and Lancaster counties of PA. I still have not been able to make a definite connection, but believe this is a likely scenario. As I understand it, the children of George and Elizabeth were George II, Plyer, John, and Sarah, who was born about 1740 and married in 1757. David:According to my notes George Barber married Elizabeth Moore (b.March 13,1701 in Chester, PA), dtr of John and Margaret Moore. One possibility for parents of George...John Barber and Elizabeth Songhurst Barber came from Sussex, England on the ship "Welcome" to Chester, Pa in August of 1682. It does not matter how many web sites her name is on, if there is no document showing the evidence. I would just like to know for sure, that is all. There was a George Barber that sailed from London to Virginia in 1635, a hundred years before there is documentation on George and Elizabeth Barber in Augusta County. I do not know if that is the correct family, or if George's (of Augusta) family came much later and passed through Pennsylvania first, as so many other Augusta settlers did.
