Hi all, I'm the new listowner for the Bangladesh list. Dear Bengali genealogists, I have just opened a free genealogy website, www.FamilyTreeRegistry.org, that I hope will be a useful new tool for genealogists in general and especially Bengali genealogists. Among its features are the ability to specify surnames and places according to their native spelling (e.g., in Bangla), and the ability to specify ethnicities (e.g., Bengali). You are not limited to Romanized names. The Family Tree Registry does not ask for personal details about individuals on family trees. Instead, it functions as a central repository of descriptive information about family trees (including where to find them) and surnames appearing on them. Please help to inaugurate this new resource by registering your family trees. You are not limited to trees you have made available online or maintain privately, you can also register trees published in books or trees kept in repositories. Hello, We are researching Eliza Sturgeon, who married Rev. William Robinson (Baptist missionary) June 04, 1839 in Dhaka. We have quite a lot of information on him, but almost nothing for her. They had four children, one of whom was Hannah. We do not know who the others are although it is almost certain they were all born in Dhaka. Sue
