Hello Karen, A tremendous thank you for this detailed information. Those names and dates do appear to match up perfectly with my great-grand-parents and establishes further my great-great-grand-parents. So very happy to see these connections. There is a definite interest to see the further information on this family connection going further back too. And that area of Ostern and Bogarosch are certainly right next to one another, and very close to Hetin where Michael Baitz had his house in 1926. Some more information for you... From my grandfather Anton Baitz, I have a handwritten letter (in German / Austrian dialect) from him to my father in 1978 (my father kept many of his old letters), mentioning that the Baitz name was changed in Wien (Vienna) from Beitz to Baitz (perhaps a clerical change), and that the name and family is related to Johannes Beitz and Maria Barbara from 1670 who were in Gehlweiler, Germany. I looked into this, and found an online account of poet Janos Pilinszky whose family traced a marriage connection back to the same Johnnes Beitz and Maria Barbara connection and subsequent Baitz's. But the Pilinszky account of Beitz/Baitz drops to another branch of Baitz's not related to mine. We also found an Anton Baitz in the "Banaters in Austria Military Records" volume VI, who died in 1849, but was born in Warjasch (in or near Timisoara/Temeswar where the record says he died) Banat -- but we have no established connection with him other than his name Anton Baitz was same as my grandfather, and my grandfather's brother. That's how they were released, but her father and mother in law were taken away and never seen or heard of again. We can only assume they were taken off to death or labor camps somewhere. They were separated from Anton - who was a doctor - as he had no choice but to serve in the war under duress, and after the war he went to Austria. Anton was a surgeon (later dentist) through University Hospital in Salzburg Austria (he had studied at the University of Graz), he could never find a trace of his parents though he tried very hard to find them.
