Judy, Some months ago I spent some spare time participating in the FHL online indexing program-------along with many volunteers who contribute to this effort to put records online. One of the files I was given to work on were the Vienna residence registrations. I ended up doing only a few dozen pages from this massive record base but it contained exactly the kind of data you are looking for. As I recall all residences born outside Vienna had to periodically register and fill out these forms. I imagine that there are still people working on indexing these records but eventually the results will be available on Familysearch and will likely solve your problem. The only information I have now is from Stasa Svetkovic, the Dolatz im Banat Familienbuch and very little help from relatives in Romania who didn’t know much about him. Philipp was born 27 JUL 1866 in Dolatz. Parents were Georgius Reiser--born 15 Jan 1832 in Gottlob and died 31 OCT 1876 in Dolatz and Magdalena Schweitzer—born 26 SEP 1837 in Dolatz and died 17 OCT 1875 in Dolatz. Since Philipp was so young when his parents died, the only information I have after this shows him living in Wien with no age as to when he moved there, whether he ever married and had children, and when and where he died. I recently found a burial for a Philipp Reiser, birth unknown and death 15 JAN 1944, listed on Find a Grave at Friedhof Meidling, Vienna Austria. This could be a possibility that this is the Philipp I’ve been searching for, or maybe there’s no connection. Can anyone give me any clues on how or where to search further. I have the information on the rest of his siblings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Judy, With a few exceptions, you may scan through the various church books of Vienna online - up to about 1935. I give you here a link for the church in Meidling. But Vienna is a big city and Reiser a quite common name. You will have a lot of work before you. Matricula is also partly available in English (use home page: (http://data.matricula-online.eu/en/ ); but the church books are all German with some Latin; depending on the priest and the time. http://data.matricula-online.eu/de/oesterreich/wien/12-meidling/ As a second hint, you may also ask at the (closed) facebook group of "Ahnenforschung Wien" (genealogy Vienna) - use English. The group or one of the administrators (Felix Gundacker & Leopold Strenn) will certainly react to your request.
