Hi Bob, Sorry I sent that last message before it was finished. The Hungarian village of Bečkerek (aka Nagy Bečkerek, Gross Betschkerek, Zrenjanin) was settled as early as the 14th century, according to the Zrenjanin article in Wikipedia. The German settlement of Klein Betschkerek began in 1785 just south of Serbian Klein Betschkerek (cf. http://www.kleinbetschkerek.de/index.htm <http://www.kleinbetschkerek.de/index.htm>). There is an interesting chart at the bottom of this page https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Becicherecu_Mic <https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Becicherecu_Mic> showing the ethnic makeup of Klein Betschkerek over the years. I expect there was interaction between the two towns. Gross Betschkerek had a weekly market beginning in 1718, so I expect the inhabitants of Klein Betschkerek would have gone there for that. Are you researching any family names? I have a copy of Marco Leitl’s Familienbuch Groß Betschkerek if you would like me to do a lookup. Regards, Dolores Jungheim Barber PS: The Banat Village List is another great resource: http://www.dvhh.org/banat_villages/village-list.htm#K <http://www.dvhh.org/banat_villages/village-list.htm#K> > On Jan 12, 2018, at 6:47 AM, banat-request@rootsweb.com <mailto:banat-request@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > Today's Topics: > > 1.
