Hi Listers, My 5th great grandfather Heinricus FISCHER *1738is down in the Mercydorf church records as “Rigasino Oriundus,” meaning that he came from or originated in “Rigasino.” His wife was Maria Anna NN, * circa1727. Would someone with the “F” Staderbook kindly do a look-up for my Heinrich please? Note that there is no marriage for the couplein Mercydorf, although there are several children born to the couple from 1762through 1771. I suspect that they were married elsewhere in the Banat. There are at least two otherFischer children who might belong to the couple: Friederich Fischer *1760 Temesvar + 18 Jan 1767 MercydorfKatharina Fischer *~1761 Temesburg + 1796 M At first, I wondered if Heinrich could have come from Riga,Latvia, which had a large German population. That would have been quite a trip, though. Then I tried separating the word Rigasinointo “Rigas” and “ino.” Considering that“g” and “k” are often used interchangeably in the records, I am wondering ifthe couple had lived, and possibly married, in Rekas aka Temes-Rekas. I would appreciate a look-up in that familybook as well. Thank you, in advance.Cathy Teufel O’Neill
