Press Release Mid Atlantic Germanic Society -- A Genealogy Society The Great War and Your Family: Documenting Service in the American Military in World War I Friday, Saturday 24, 25 October 2014 MAGS is proud to present our Fall program on October 25, 2014 at the Sheraton - Wilmington South Hotel, New Castle, Delaware. PLUS a workshop presented by Dr Kenneth Heger. (the workshop will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Sheraton) Constance Potter was a reference archivist with more than 30 years experience for the National Archives and Records Administration. She routinely represented the National Archives to members of the news media on matters relating to family history. Patrick Osborn is a native of Kansas City, Missouri, and received both a BA and MA in history from the University of Missouri-Kansas City He has been with the National Archives since 1999, working primarily with Navy and Marine Corps records from the World War II and postwar period. Dr. Kenneth W. Heger is a Senior Supervisory Archivist in the Office of Research Services at the National Archives and Records Administration He has a doctorate in history from the University of Maryland. He has made presentations at the annual conferences of the National Genealogical Society, the Federation of Genealogical Societies and the Mid-Atlantic Germanic Society, and is a regular speaker at the National Institute on Genealogical Research. Dr. Heger will present a special inter-active lecture on Posters from the Great War. Governments made extensive use of posters to raise morale and money for the war effort during World War I.
