I just finished reading German Bourgeois Families of Gross-Kikinda before World War II by Marta Istvan. I enjoyed reading about the history of Kikinda and areas in the vicinity. The rise of the Bohn brick factory had a tremendous influence on the success of the Banat and its surroundings. The importance of the horse dry mill is also demonstrated. Kikinda became a popular social gathering place for the surrounding towns. The photos of the brick factory, the mill, the town and the residents are wonderful. Although I have never been in the Banat, this book helped me to appreciate to some extent what it was like. Among the families included in this book are Bohn, Muschong, Kisslinger, Rieslinger, Penz, Mayer, Draxlinger, Fritsch, Dippong, Bauer, Menacker. Fran Matkovich
