Welcome to the List, Karen, my maternal (HALLABRIN) and paternal grandparents (WAGENHALS) came from Franzfeld, Austria-Hungary--1907 and 1913 respectively. I have a copy of the book FRANZFELD (Franzfeld Im Banat)--1792-1945. It is a Heimatbuch: Book of local history and geography It is in German. It has an index of names under different categories. Just browsing through, I do see your name KASCHUBA. If you don't have this book already, perhaps I could be of help by checking for your names. You sound like you have gone a lot further than I have in your research. You mentioned "David Kemle's books." I wonder if these would be helpful to me. Could you tell me about them? What are the titles? Where would I purchase them? What is the cost? I'm also wondering about Franzfeld church books as well. I know I will never be able make the trip to Franzfeld; so my research is mostly through family, the Banat List, Ancestry.com, and the Internet. Do you have any relatives in Mansfield, Ohio? Both sets of my grandparents and my maternal great grandparents moved to Mansfield from Franzfeld. There are several families in Mansfield that made the move from Franzfeld. Best wishes to you in your research. Marcia Fay (WAGENHALS) Cobb (Formerly of Mansfield, Ohio) Newberg, Oregon In a message dated 5/16/2010 12:07:34 A.M. I am looking for any information that can help me go back to find out more about where my family came from before Mramorak. I have discovered Franzfeld but have no idea what resources may be available - are there church books for Franzfeld. I have ordered David Kemle's books (thank you David!!) and am very excited to learn more of the history of the area and the people. In the meantime, here is what I know: Adam Kaschuba is the son of Andreas Kaschuba (born 1813, died 10 Feb 1853) and Magdalena Wagner (no dates or locations) (Mramorak Church Book, Births 1827-1866). Adam was born on 27 Jan 1848 in Mramorak. On 11 Nov 1869 Adam Kaschuba, son of deceased resident, Andreas Kaschuba from Franzfeld married Katharina (born 15 Jan 1850 in Mramorak) in Franzfeld (Mramorak Church Book, Mramorak Marriages). Katharina is the daughter of Peter Bert (no dates or locations) and Christina born Dapper (no dates or locations) who were married 3 Jan 1837 in Mramorak (Mramorak Church Book, Mramorak Marriages). Peter is the son of Daniel Bert (no dates or locations). Christina is the daughter of Nikolaus Dapper (no dates or locations). Thanks for your help.
