    1. [BANAT-L] Catholic vs. Orthodoxy Churches (Boka)

    3. Hello All, I am assuming when all the records were recorded for the LDS that the focus was on the villages that had catholic parishes. But I think there were other villages where Catholics lived, regardless of their ethnicity, that did not have catholic churches, but rather Orthodoxy churches, correct? I’m specifically thinking of the village of Boka, but I’m sure there are others. From the limited information I can find on this village, it appears that originally two villages – one that had a majority Serbian population and the other Hungarian. Eventually these villages merged, although I’m not sure when. Some of the people in this village were part of the Catholic religion and there was certainly a catholic German presence in the village. >From what I can tell, there was an Orthodoxy church in this village since 1801 or so. So my question is – would the catholic people in these villages also used the Orthodoxy church for religious events? Or would they have traveled to a neighboring village that had a catholic church? And would the records of the Orthodoxy churches also be kept in the archives? I’m not sure if they would have had the same requirements. Thanks much!
