    3. Debbie; Firstly I concur with John Walter. When I got your message the Ostern family book was the first place I looked to see if I could find your guys. Your great grandmother was an ethnic German living in Hungary. I have joined the Banat list as of last week. Forgive my ignorance, I have tried looking on the internet for maps from 1900 because I was always told Great-Grandma was from Germany, yet any info I am receiving says she was from Hungary? In thinking I am of German descent maybe I am not and I am Hungarian? Just curious. Thank you, Debbie In a message dated 9/20/2010 6:40:31 P.M. They were from Ruskodorf and their destination was to an uncle, Christof Sebastian in Chiago. That is the easy part. No one has the Ruskodorf church books(KBs)----that I know of. That means that the KBs will have to be consulted in what ever archives they are deposited in-----probably Gr Kikinda. This would require a trip to the archives or contact a researcher in Serbia to do it for a fee. If you want to follow the latter option I can recomend a lady who lives in Gr Kikinda. She is frequently used by Banat List subscribers. Steve has probably recomended that you subscribe to the Banat List. If not, you should consider it. It is possible that you can find other Ruskodorf researchers on the list. Hello Dave, I am trying to research my family. I have gone as far back as my Great-Grandmother, Magdalena Nothof b: Aug. 9th 1887 - d: Oct. 14th, 1978 from Hungary coming by boat into America via Maryland. She came with her sister, Elizabeth. Their older brother, Anton, ( Born: May 3rd, 1884),came separately. Steve Herold said you might be able to help me. Can you help at all? Thank you, Debbie
