Dave, A belated thank you for checking for Remillong entries in the Koenigsdorf FB for me. I meant to originally verify that FB does include the town of Oppowa as I have seen referenced? Also that my gg-uncle spelled it "Oppova" in several places but I assumed that was the same place? Please correct me if I am mistaken. Thanks again, Jerry Remillong ________________________________ From: "banat-request@rootsweb.com" <banat-request@rootsweb.com> To: banat@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, September 1, 2010 12:01:26 AM Subject: BANAT Digest, Vol 5, Issue 238 Today's Topics: 1. With name duplication occuring, I have seen it happen in my family tree where two people of the same name were born the same year -- then you have to determine which is yours -- especially if all you have to go on is the approx. year. Another hint to finding a person is looking to the godparent if listed; and looking for the marriage witness, if listed. Since many people honored the godparent by asking them to be marriage witness, you can see a connection. Hope this helps a little. Not much got by Tony Kraemer. The family data on all these Kothstein guys is laid out by Kraemer in the Ulmbach family book. Although he devotes a paragraph or two to background of the Salzpeter revolt you will find a more extensive discussion on the Flacker pages. Jerry; Oppowa and Koenigsdorf are the same place. Koenigsdorf is the German name for Oppowa. And yes, Oppowa and Oppova are spelling varients of the same place. I assume Oppowa is the prefered German version. Keep in mind that the family book only goes to 1872 so that your guy could have lived there after this time.
