Uwe; Since Chicago was the destination of Elisabeth Stein on her passenger ship record I think you can assume that she lived there during the entire time of her arrival in 1904 until 1911 at the time of the birth of her kid in 1911. If the birth of the first kid was registered then it should be in the pilot database. As you well know there are almost unlimited ways to spell the surname Detemple. I assume you have tried all possibilities but if not you must exhaust this approach in the pilot database. The usual strategy in such cases is the following. You know the street address from the birth record of the second kid. In addition, you can get conformation of the street address from the 1910 census. One then finds this street, 1638 Orchard St, on a detailed street map of Chicago and identifies the Catholic churches in the neighborhood. Hopefully there is only one. Then one checks the FHL catalogue to see if the records of this church are on microfilm in Salt Lake. I am no expert on Chicago and undoubtly there are many Banat LIst subscribers who know the city well and there would be some who could pinpoint the church off the top of their head since the Banaters tended to all live in the same neighborhood. If the church records are not in Salt Lake then it is a big problem and again there may be some Banat list subscribers who have some insight on how to access them.
