Hello Dave, Thank you for the information. I have looked up the information on the webpage and if I am correct the documents from before 1918 have been sent to the local authorities where the people were from. So it seems that my Zampo is probably in an archive in Budapest, Hungary. I will contact the Kriegsarchiv anyway and see if they can give me more information. So far I did not find anything on his battalion on Google. However, it is possible that the Kriegsarchiv may have some information on Zampo. Normally they are rather hopeless for men with no special service record but since this Zampo won a medal it is likely that the Kriegsarchiv people can find his service record and since you know the date and unit this should help a lot. See the Kriegsarchiv website. The Kriegsarchive has copies of all the published regimental histories but it is problematic that one was written for a Sappeur Batallion. But you can find out using Google. Dave Drweyer ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ruxandra M.
