I just received my copy of the FB Deutsch Zerne and have started to update my files. I came across an example not previously seen before. I have a child Maria Tabar who has a birth record in both Deutsch Zerne and Ostern. Now she could only have been born in one town. Was it a practice to notify another church of a birth? The father is born in Deutsch Zerne. The mother was born in Ostern. The couple marries in Ostern, but it appears the family lives in Deutsch Zerne. Any thoughts? Robert Evensen
Robert; Yes, one can, from time to time, find the birth record in more than one village. In some villages the precher in the marriage record noted the birth dates of the bride and groom---not always accurately. However, these are very useful when some of the orginal birth records are missing. .So if the groom was born in another village his birth data would be available to those in the brides village. It should be noted that the comments column in the birth records is ofter a valuable souce of information about the subsequent marriage. On one example, I have seen data on marrages in North Dakota in the Josefsdorf KBs. In the Heufeld birth records one can find the details on many marrage contracts on Heufelders who subsequently were married in Germany in the postwar period.
