Hello Danube Swabian Researchers, If your Donauschwaben roots go back to Bohemia you might be able to follow your ancestry line back in time. There are two volumes of a census taken by the Kingdom of Bohemia in 1651 to establish who was still alive after the 30 years war. This census is called BERNI RULA. You can go to the library and request these volumes on interlibrary loans (one of these copies are in Atlanta), Ask for the Version by Czerny, they are listed in alphabetical name listing. Some of it is phonetic, so look under all possibilities of spelling. There, under the name should be the family name and the place, their possessions and professions. In the 30 years war (1618-1648) 80% of all Bohemian population was wiped out due to the Plague brought by the Swedes who helped the Protestants, but then King Gustav Adolf got killed, or died of plague, so the Catholics won anyway. This Berni Rula may be the best source to find out where your ancestors came from, and THEN go into the church registers of these towns to find them. There is another list at the LDS called "Ansiedlerliste" where some of the inner Monarchial transfers of people are listed, like from Bohemia to...... Romania, Hungary, Galicia, Ukraine, etc. Those suggestions are from Aida Kraus, of the German Bohemian List. Hope to see you all in Mt. Angel! www.dsheritage.com Rosina www.hrastovac.net
