Hello: I am researching the Ehrenreich surname and I found in my family genealogy that this name shows up as Honorary Reich, Honour Reich and Reich Tribute in the Lenauheim website on Genealogy.net. I was wondering why this is, what these names mean and also why the Variations. Peter Tarnai is the man listed on the site. Dave Weinfurtner
Hello Dave, Looks like computer translation did all this: "Honor", Honorary", "Tribute" seem to be attempts to translate "Ehre(n)"! This reminds me of another computer translation that made me laugh: The name of the village of "Gottlob" was courageously translated as "Praise God". It shows that we still need humans to establish context in translations. Best wishes, Nick Tullius -----Original Message----- From: banat-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:banat-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of davey1947@suddenlink.net Sent: 14-Jul-10 06:10 To: BANAT@rootsweb.com Subject: [BANAT-L] Variations of Ehrenreich Surname Hello: I am researching the Ehrenreich surname and I found in my family genealogy that this name shows up as Honorary Reich, Honour Reich and Reich Tribute in the Lenauheim website on Genealogy.net.
