Yesterday, DW-TV, the German world news network, featured a story about the Ceausescu regime's release of about 220,000 ethnic Germans. This was by far not an act of charity, but a huge money-making scheme, at the same time an ethnic cleansing operation. Listen to the video for the full sordid story. He went back to his hometown years later and found that it had turned into a ghost town.
