Hello All, I was wondering if anyone had the Stefansfeld Familienbuch and would be willing to look up a couple for me? I am looking for the marriage of Josef Harnacker and Maria Avender, who were both from Stephansfeld, and any children they may have had while living in the town. Three of their children (Barbara - born 1887 in Stefansfeld, Jakob - born 1890 in Setschanfeld, Anna - born 1892 in Stefansfeld) married in Setschanfeld, but I have not been able to find any other records for any other children. They supposedly had a daughter who married a man named Glass, but I have not been able to find any record of this. They supposedly immigrated to Canada before WWII. Their son, Jakob Harnacker, married Katharina Prunkl in Setschanfeld and they had a daughter named Susanne. After Susanne married in 1932 and immigrated to the US soon after. They had one son, Adam, in 1935. Susanna died a few years later in 1945, when Adam was only 10 years old. I was talking to him the other day and he said that after his mother died, his father forbade him and everyone else from ever speaking of her and took all her pictures away. He was able to find one pictures over the years, but never knew anything about his mother's family. Anyway it tugged at my heartstrings and I just thought I'd see if I could find out more information on his family for him. In any case if anyone would be able to look for me, I would appreciate it so much!! Thanks much, Amy Nichols
Dear Amy, In the Familienbuch Stefansfeld by Hans Awender there is no Harnacker listed. But the names and dates in the listing for Josef Harnak are so close to the ones you've given, it might be the same family: 21.003, 0 HARNAK Josef E: 21.001, 0 H S * 21.01.1853 S oo 1878 S Awender Mariane * 25.01.1858 S E: 33.038,0 A KINDER: Johan * 15.11.1878 S Josef * 11.01.1880 S 21.004,0 H Katharina * 11.06. 1882 S 59.001,0 B Mariane * 01.11.1184 S Barbara * 16.09.1887 S 66.003,0S Margaretha *16.09.1887 S Jakob * 1881 S Nani * 1893 S Susanne * 1896 S Let me know if you need help with how to read the notation. Does anyone know if a copy of the Stefansfeld Familienbuch can be purchased anywhere? I'd love to have a copy! Thanks much, Amy
Amy; The Stefansfeld family book by Awender is out of print but has been transfered to a CD by the AVBF. I am tne North American representative of the AVBF and I can arrange to have a copy sent to you. The price is 25 Euro plus postage. It will be sent out from Germany and when it comes will have a note with it instructing you to send me a check for the amount due. Send me your mailing address if you would like to order a copy.
