    3. Thank you Rose, For putting our attention to "Money for Freedom" and the Exodus of Romania's German-speaking Minority where through the Lawyer Heinz Guenther Huesch Germany paid some 40 years ago around 500 million Euros to the Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu for the privilege of extracting most of 220,000 ethnic Germans still residing in Romania. Not quite 10 years ago there were still 11,000 ethnic Germans (Siebenbuerger Sachsen and Danube Swabians) living there. Many managed later to reach the West via a visit to Budapest, where they applied for immigration visas to who ever wanted them. Some reached the Canadian shores in the last few years, most of them highly educated professionals. Just another part of our Danube Swabian history. See you all in Mt. Angel come September! 3. Rose; I must echo Rosina's comments. Although we get Deutsche Welle on our local TV I apparently missed the episode your refer to. I also appreciate the lead on You tube which I had never looked at. By putting Banat into the search slot I found videos already up on the 2010 Heimattag in Ulm.
