I am looking for the birth information of Katharina Mussler.I believe Katharina Mussler was born on 5 May 1801 in Neubeschenowa, and that her parents were Adam Mussler and Magdalena Hermann.I am looking for the birth entry to confirm this and any other information regarding Katharina's parents. I also know that Katharina married Georg Klein 16 Jan 1825.Thank you very much.Darlene

It may be worth noting here that Empress Maria Theresia was born 300 years ago this year. Since most Banat settlements were established during her reign and through her direction, many, if not most of us owe our Banater origins to this remarkable and industrious lady. Dave Dreyer
I asked Marta Istvan in Kikinda to decipher the text on the bricks. I also came up with Jukoslawija, so agree with Walter. The "J"s and the "S" are written backwards. A message was received via David Preston who it the web master for the Mollydorf website which contained an attachment concerning a military hospital in Virovitica . The attachment will not come through on the message to the Mailing Lists. David has put the image up on a dedicated site so the content of this message will be clearer. The attachment shows three bricks in a the hospital in Virovitica which can be located in Slavonia or Croatia depending on the time period. Scratched into each brick is essentially the same inscription. Malje Jakob Molin 1932 II/VII Banat Two of the bricks have an additional last line which reads JAK091LA???. The final letters are unclear. With Google one can find a photo of the Virovitica hospital. It appears to consist of a fairly modern two story brick building behind which arises a five story modern institutional style building, probably constructed in the last 20 years. Familysearch records indicate that an important Austrian Army Hauptfield Hospital was located here in both the campaign of 1805-1806 and the revolution of 1848-1850. It was a Filial of Field Hospital #9. Clearly either of the buildings in the photo on line would have existed in 1850 but of to the left in the picture is an older building which could have existed in 1850. The shade of the bricks appear to match the two story building. Reference to the Mollydorf family book by Roswitha Ergert yields a Jakob Malje, *23 Aug 1911 Mollydorf who is the most likely candidate. This Jakob Malje had a daughter who lived in Detroit. Jakob Malje went missing in WW II. Dave Dreyer
Hi Sharon, I believe there is a family book for Lugoj. I would see if you can find it at a LDScenter in your area. Some of my own relatives were from the same area as yours. They lived in the village of Darowa. In time, some from the village moved to thecity of Lugoj. The surname Wagendorf sounded familiar to me, so I looked itup in my Darowa family book. Indeed, thename was there. I found the following there, and it might giveyou some leads: WAGENDORF Michael *um 1746 Wierschem + 01.02.1801 DarKB. Lugosch:+26.10.1786 Wagendorf Anna Maria 48 J. “a.d.Pfalz, loco Wischheim” = Wierschem; oo 3.12.1786 Wagendorf Michael, Ww, mitMeszin Susanna, ledig;SKR Lg 384: einq. 4 Pers. 4.6.1785- 8.10.1785 bei AnnaKurzendorfer H. 88 vom 8.4.1786-E, 10.1786 bei Caecilia Bettinger H. 33; SKR Lug.289: W.M. colonist, 4 Pers. Dar: Haus-Grundbesitzer 1797/98: Michael Wagendorf, senior, H.156 mit 16 Joch; It then goes on to show Michael’s marriage to wife, AnnaMaria NN (one child) and wife SusannaMESZ (four children). There are 5 pagesof Wagendorf information in all. Would you happen to know the name of your great-grandfatherWagendorf? I understand that his son, your grandfather, was Franz, as was your father, but I can check to see if there is any Wagendorfborn in Darowa with you great-grandfather’s name. I did not find the surname TURASEK or its variations in mybook, but the Mach surname was there. I hope this helps you in your search, Sharon. I don’t know how toconvert to simple text, so I am sure this will come out with question marks allover it. I will send you the message directlyto make it more legible. Sincerely,Catherine Teufel O’Neill

Thank you for all the good information that comes up on this site. I really learn a lot. I've decided to narrow my genealogical focus and just spend time trying to locate my grandfather. I know from DNA who my great grandmother was and where/when she died. I know the other siblings. I know one male sibling came to the US and I have some information from his family, but all they provided was that when the mother died, he was taken by an uncle and later he went to America. The other brother (my grandfather) disappeared "never to be heard from again." Well, he may never have been heard from again, but he came back to the village where he was born long enough for my father to be born (illegitimate I assume) in 1897, and he may been around long enough for him to claim my father and change his name his own name in 1908. I have not been able to document who changed my father's last name. I have the name change record from Budapest, but the background information was lost in a fire. The birth record shows his father as his mother's first husband, but alas, he had gone to America. I am looking for the best ideas to do some searching. I have no family history to draw from as my grandmother died in 1917. I'm at a brick wall and it seems that there are so many possibilities for research, I don't know where to start. The area is Lugos, Romania (Hungary), the village Vecsehaza (also Wetsche nstein and now Pietroase mare) My father was named Ferencz Mach, but his father was Ferencz Wagendorf (also Wag) 28 Sep 1897 His mother was Anna Turasek (Durasek, Duratschek) If someone knows a contact in Lugos, I would be interested in hiring them check some records there. Thanks for you ideas. Sharon Aller, Seattle ----- Original Message -----
I have been informed by the AVBF that they have sold all of the copies of the St. Hubert family books (2014 edition). 20 copies were transferred to the AKdFF, and they still have a few copies for sale. These few remaining copies of the books must be ordered through the AKdFF. If you are interested, kindly contact Anita Villnow at the AKdFF at info@akdff.de <mailto:info@akdff.de> —Karen
