Hi Gary, This was the most recent edition. It may be available at the Family History Library in SLC. There are no plans to reprint the books. The Church records for Hatzfeld are on-line at the FamilySearch.org website. Go to their website, select Search, select Catalog, and enter “Hatzfeld” in the field for “Place”. Select the one in Austria, Banat (there is also a Hatzfeld in Prussia). Please note the records on-line are digital images of the Church book pages, are not indexed, and only cover up to 1851. Hope that helps, —Karen > On Nov 5, 2017, at 12:30 PM, Gary K <flash_no_1@hotmail.com> wrote: > > Was that the latest version? Dear List members, The 6-volume family book for Hatzfeld is sold-out. —Karen
Hello fellow list members, is there a family book for Arad? I am looking for information about Johann Dornbach and his wife Katherine Müller, both born around 1878. They lived in Arad before going to the US in 1906. Thank you very much and happy Halloween! Bastian
Josefsdorfers played a key role in establishing the North Dakota Banat Colony. About 25% of the ND Banaters can include Josefsdorf as their ancestral village. An article in the 15 Sept 2017 issue of the Banater Post by Katharina Szomoru describes the 135 th anniversary celebration on 15 August of the founding of Josefsdorf.Josefsdorf was established in 1882 on poor soils on hilly terrain in the hills East of Temeswar by transfer of the population from Elisenhain. Today there are hardly any Banat Germans living in the village. The present population consists of Romanians and some Slowak families who arrived in the 1970. On the occasion of the anniversary the street leading into the village has been paved with asphalt and the Kulturheim cleaned and painted. The Romanian orthodox priest of the village organized two German groups in Schwablsch Tracht from Detta and Billed to provide a bit of Banater Deutsch flavor to the celebrations.Only three Josefsdorf familes came from Germany to join the festivities, Engelbert Schmidt with family, Peter Bergmann with wife and Josef Szomoru with wife. One suspects that we are witnessing the final stage of German influence, as we know it, in this small corner of the Banat. In a totally unrelated item in this same issue of the Banater Post was a school class photo from Josefsdorf for the years 1950-1951. Such photos appear from time to time in the Banater Post but are most often without identification of the kids. This photo submitted by Regina Lutz has all 25 of the kids identified. Many of the surnames will be recognizable by ND Banaters, among these are; Giel, Trendier, Gaschna, Beketsch, Naegl. Descho, Thierjung, Helllmann, Dworscheck, Schaff, Weissmueller, Laub, Betschner, Neusatz and Bisch. Dave Dreyer

As some may have noticed, the Banat List was unavailable for on the 24th and part of the 25th of October. Here is the statement released by Ancestry: As you know, RootsWeb is a collection of products that has grown organically over the last two decades. Many of these have not been updated or maintained in years. Ancestry is currently working on updating and revising World Connect, Mailing Lists, and hosted sites such as Free Pages over the next twelve months; however, all other products and functionality are under review. We will continue to notify you of updates here as decisions are made. The Banat List is part of Rootsweb, so this list is subject to review and possible elimination. To avoid possible loss of the information contained in this thread, I am copying all of the Archives for this list, along with the Member email addresses. Should Ancestry determine that the Band List is no longer a part of their free services, I will endeavor to migrate the information to a new host for continued service. Hello Danube Swabian Researchers, I have just received from the museum in Entre Rios a passenger list of those Danube Swabians that sailed to Brazil between 1951 and 1954 and established the settlements of Entre Rios. More on that please see http://hrastovac.net/historical/60-years-Entre-Rios.htm. The list is 79 pages long and too long to type it up, but if you are looking for a specific name, I will gladly do a look-up for you. Halloween greetings from Vancouver Island, Rosina T. Hello Suzanne, As I was away from computer for a time, the information below might be of interest to you on your Saltpeter Rebellion question. The research was done by myself. In 1744 was the first Saltpeter rebellion in Hotzenwald, due to exorbitant taxes requested by the landowner, the bishop, as he needed additional funds to finish the basilica in St. Blasien, Black Forest. After the 5th Saltpeter rebellion, on October 9th 1755 the Empress Maria Theresia had 27 family men and their families, altogether 112 persons imprisoned and sent in chains to Banat to Beschenova, Freidorf, Karanschebesch, Lugosch, Raksch, Ujpecs (oder Vybis) und Zsackowa. Those 27 Hotzenwaelders were: Fridolin Albietz from Buch, Jakob Albietz from Etzwihl, Martin Artzner from Engelschwand, Fridolin Bär from Görwihl, Martin Bär from Hierholz, Martin Beger from Oberalpfen, Johann and Konrad Ebi from Oberalpfen, Georg Ebner from Birndorf, Fridolin Eckert from der Rütte, Fridolin Eckert from Buch, Michael Eckert from Hogschür, Leonhart Gamp from Dogern, Josef Geng from Hogschür, Johann Georg Gerspacher from Oberwihl, Nikolaus Gottstein from der Rütte, Jakob Huber from Görwihl, Adam Jehle from Dogern, Johann Baptist Kaiser from Katzenmoos, Gregor Kummer from Buch, Josef Leber from der Glashütte, Johann Marder, der Preuß from Eschbach, Johann Georg Marder from Waldkirch, Johann Meierfrom Niederalpfen, Johann Strittmatter from Görwihl, Sebastian Werni from Kiesenbach, Jakob Zimmermann from Görwihl.[6] <applewebdata://12437545-BBC6-429B-9999-17BBBB2525F7#_ftn6> Between 1751- 1805 some 180 persons emigrated from the relatively very small area of Hotzenwald to Banat.
