I should have mentioned other spellings of his name such as Servaux or Serveux, etc. I also should have asked about my 4th great grandmother: AnnaMaria PILION b 1748 Bann d 1818 Mastort I have no idea when she came to the Banat, but they were married in Hatzfeld 21 Jan 1771. Here are his details: Mathias Servo b 1748 Lorraine d 1794 Mastort Emigrated in May, 1770 from Lorraine and he was a linen weaver. Married Anna Maria Pilion in 1771 in Hatzfeld
Hi Larry, Unfortunately, the book has no mention of anyone with the surname SERVO. There are similar surnames SERVAIS and SIDEAU, but none of those listed has a first name of Mathias or Mathieu. There’s also no surname listed for PILION, in case that was also in question. This book is only volume 1, and I believe there was to be a volume 2 but I don’t know if that’s available. You might try contacting the author, Charles Amann, at charles.amann@sfr.fr. Hi Larry I have the book that you speak of but there are no listings for a SERVO. Perhaps check the DVHH website and in it you will find researchers for different villages. Perhaps someone from there would be able to help. Example Hatzfeld. http://www.dvhh.org/banat/ Sorry I could not help you. Dear Judy, Yesterday, I wanted to send you the following advice, but the mail was bounced back. Since Dave just also mentioned the relation with Tschawosch I like to send my answer again once more but via the list. Dave also hinted towards the Niessner-Dekorsi family and finally Anna Huepfel from Pardan, which is of course in my tree. Best regards Rudolf HUEPFL Wien, Österreich Genealogie ist das Weitergeben von Rätsel an die zukünftigen Generationen When I had a similar problem with my family part from Tschawosch, I contacted Philipp Willer in southern France. Hello DS Forschers, Forwarding to you the information below about a topic that we knew all along, that there were villages in Banat settled with French settlers. There will be a presentation about it in Ulm, Germany, on April 11th, as well as an exhibition. More info on the exhibition at info@dzm-museum.de <mailto:info@dzm-museum.de>.
