Believe there was also a Nicholas Lenoir/Schwarz in Neu Beschenova and also one among the early settlers in Seultour. Hi Charles, Nicolas (Nikolaus) LeNoir aka Schwarz *~1719 Lorraine +5 Oct 1770 Mercydorf oo to Élisabeth Julianne (Elisabeth Julianna) of what looks like "Vasaharf", Lorraine. I can try to find the record that shows her place of origin again and see if I can get a better read on the entry. If you know what it is, please let me know. Sincerely, Cathy Teufel O'Neill

Charles, I don't know anything specific about Nicolas Lenoir, but I do have a Lenoir from Ostern in my line. The first three entries about this family in Ostern were under the name Lenoir, the later entries were under the name Schwarz. It took me a little while to realize that the French name had been Germanized (they both mean black). So maybe you should look for Nicholas Schwarz. Bob - I was just thinking -- if Ricardo ordered one of the Glogowatz books, perhaps Erwin would have his e-mail address. No so sure about Sylvia. I know that I looked once before but did not have it. Sorry. Susan P.S. Perhaps looking in the archives -- although I don't think I have seen anything from him in a long while. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Hain" <robertfhain@hotmail.com> To: "List List" <banat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 23, 2010 4:08 PM Subject: [BANAT-L] Sylvia and Richardo Hein > > Fellow Researchers, > > I have lost the email address of Sylvia Hein. Good Morning! As of now we know that some 35,000 Danube Swabian children were forcefully taken out of Tito's starvation camps below the age of 14 and sent to diverse orphanages to be raised as Serbs. Siblings were divided and sent to different localities, as well as forbidden to keep in contact. Through the Red Cross some 7,000 children were eventually re-united with their families but what happened to the others? If you are one of those children or know someone who is, we would love to hear your story. Myself specifically. Rosina www.hrastovac.net

Hello Amy, there is a family book in work but will take several years to get ready. As you can read in the archive, all information and dates of Warjasch descents are welcome as contribution to this book and can be sent to me. I will forward them to the author Gunhild Burger. Hello, Does anyone know if there are any records or a Familienbuch for the village of Warjasch? Johann Georg Dinjer and Eva Blum had a son, Georg Dinjer, there in 1852. I've assumed he left Bogarosch since his death was not listed in the Bogarosch Familienbuch, but only just noticed this note that his youngest son was born in Varjas. So I thought he may have died there. The LDS records only go up to 1852 and I am wondering if anyone know if there are any other records floating out there or a Familienbuch for the town? Thanks so much! Amy
JoAnn, yes there was bell in my head which ringed a little. There are several Rettinger / Rittinger in Ulmbach (Neu Petsch). Could be Setscha as well. I need to check. I have the family books from this villages and can send you a copy of the Rettinger pages. Can take a while as I'm a little busy at the moment. My Grandfather, Johann Rettinger, came over in 1922 to Ellis Island and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The rest of the Rettinger clan came over to the U.S. and settled in St. Louis, Missouri. Does this ring a bell to anyone? Johann was born in Cavos, Yugoslavia in 1890. He was a baker. His father, Carl, was a furrier. Johann's Grandfather was Nikolas Samson (obviously his mother's father). > > JoAnn Douthwaite > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to BANAT-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > >

Hi, Thanks to all who took the time to do a look-up for my e-mail buddy in France. He really appreciates your efforts. Sincerely, Cathy Teufel O'Neill
Hello, It is good to hear that Part 1 of the Mercydorf family book is ready to be published. I was wondering if a copy of the CD with the later records could be included with the book. Some of us on the Banat List did contribute towards purchasing the records from the Romanians a few years ago, and we thought that we would eventually be able to see the records. I have read that at least one Banat village has included a CD with its publication. I hope that becomes the standard. I believe that many Americans would gladly send in money to purchase the later records if given the opportunity. Although these records are available in Germany, it seems only right that the Americans who help support the projects have access to the records too. Sincerely, Cathy Teufel O'Neill Mercydorf Researcher Village Family Tree
