    1. [BANAT-L] Family Book for Grossbetschkerek
    2. Does anyone have the family book for Grossbetschkerek? Is there, in fact, a book for this village? I am looking for information on Peter Kramer, born 1883. His ship's record gives his home as Becskerek, but he wasn't born in Kleinbetschkerek (I have that book). Any info would be appreciated. Hilde Horvath

    3. My ancestor was born in Beodra in 1836. From the local archives (in Zrenjanin), I was able to get a certified letter naming her parents. Now I just need to figure out how to pay them for their services. A list of the various archives in northern Serbia can be found at http://www.vojvodina.com/kultura/html/archives.htm. I had to do a Google search to find the website of the actual Zrenjanin archives. My ancestor's microfilm was listed at http://www.arhivzrenjanin.org.rs/index2.htm. (Beodra is now part of the municipality of Novi Becej). The archive required exact dates of events, as much as possible.

    3. Amy; Kraemer has put an explaination point behind the first marriage date(making the grooms age 13-14), indicating that he recognizes the difficultity. Not much got by Tony Kraemer. The family data on all these Kothstein guys is laid out by Kraemer in the Ulmbach family book. Although he devotes a paragraph or two to background of the Salzpeter revolt you will find a more extensive discussion on the Flacker pages. 3. Amy - I don't know if you have done this already .... but look at the online Mormon site: www.familysearch.org and check out Jakob Gottstein -- there is marriage record for him to Christine Rittinger January 1793 in Peciul-Nou; Jakob is listed as born and died in Ulmbach. There is no source information for this ... just the listing ... but worth checking out. Good luck. 3. Amy - I hope that someone can help .... but take into consideration that there was more than one Jakob Kothstein. and you are finding a birthrecord for the younger person. With name duplication occuring, I have seen it happen in my family tree where two people of the same name were born the same year -- then you have to determine which is yours -- especially if all you have to go on is the approx. year. Another hint to finding a person is looking to the godparent if listed; and looking for the marriage witness, if listed. Since many people honored the godparent by asking them to be marriage witness, you can see a connection. Hope this helps a little. 1. [BANAT-L] Help with a family from Setschan and Ulmbach - Kothstein (Gottstein)
    2. Amy Nichols
    3. Hello All, I am wondering if there is someone who would be able to look up some information in the Ulmbach Familienbuch for me? There is a family in the Setschan Familienbuch that is listed as originating from Ulmbach and was hoping that some information on them would be listed in the book. There is a Jakob Kothstein, who's birth date is listed as 12 Dec 1800 and is listed as the son of Jakob Kothstein and Kristina Rettinger. Jakob is listed as marrying 3 times, but some information seems that it may not be totally correct. His first marriage to Katharina Christian would have occurred 8 May 1814, when he was only 13 years old - although I guess it's possible, but doesn't seem likely. So I was wondering if someone could look up the family of Jakob Kothstein (Gottstein) and Kristina Rettinger to see if there is any information listed on them? I read an old email to the Banat list from Dave Dreyer that gave the following information: The first member of this family to come to the Banat was a Nikolaus Gottstein who was one of the members of the Salpeterer-Aufstand who was banded to the Banat in irons under instructions from Maria Theresia herself These revolutionaries were initially sent to Neubeschenowa and Ulmbach ..You will find much Kotstein data in the Ulmbach Familienbuecher. It might be noted that the father-in-law of Nikolaus Gottstein, Martin Berger, was also among the rebels deported in Oct 1755 and he settled in Ulmbach. This is so very interesting and I was hoping someone could tell me if there is any information in the Ulmbach Familienbach on these families? Thank you so much! I appreciate any help! Amy

    3. I cannot help you with Remillong but I have Bruck in my family. I have Anna Maria Bruck born 1825-27 in Dolacz, married Petrus Heinz in 1843 and died 1873 in Dolacz. Sorin is researching my line as we speak so soon I may know who her parents are. I also have Madler through marriage. My ancestors are: Biel, Heinz, Bruck, Heidl Pat Haley > Date: Sun, 29 Aug 2010 03:34:52 -0700 > From: jerrymandering@sbcglobal.net > To: banat@rootsweb.com > Subject: [BANAT-L] Konigsdorf / Oppowa Lookup > > Greetings Banat List Members, > > First, I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me already. > > Next, I am trying to piece together a puzzle and have to ask a favor.
