thank you so much to all for your help. This is the person that I've been looking for. Is there an original document also for his death? You are wonderful people. Hi Brigitte, I couldn't find a death certificate on Ancestry. Dear Rosina and friends, it will be my great honor to contribute to your esteemed Conference with my, hopefully, interesting lecture about the secondary sources in studies of Donauschwaben genealogy. And thank you, Rosina and Dr. Michels for your continued support! And you are right ... after 11 years of guiding of mostly US and Canadian clients through their ancestral region, it will be really great to finally see at least a little part of North America. I am glad to say that I keep in touch with many of them and even more proud to say that I have made friendship with a lot of those dear people, so I am immensely looking forward to my trip to USA! Thanks to everyone for the information. This gives me more leads to track down and determine if indeed this is the correct Josef Huepfel. It is wonderful to have others to assist. Dear Brigitte, There is a Phillip Otto listed in the 1870 US Census living in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a birth year of approx. 1824, and a birthplace of Prussia. He is listed as having a wife, Elizabeth, age 38, and three children - Elizabeth (age 11), Fred (age 7), and Henry (age 5). There is also a US Civil War Draft Record for Phillip Otto of Indianapolis, born 1823, and a photo of the grave marker for Phillip Otto (1823-1907) from a cemetery in Indiana. Does this sound like the right person to you? If so, let me know and I'll send you the info I've found. There's likely more information also, but this is what came up pretty quickly. Hello Mt. Angel Travellers, It has been now confirmed that Stasa Cvetkovic will give us a presentation at our upcoming DS Mt. Angel conference come September 12th to 14th 2014: Stasa has just received his visa entry for the USA. Our good fortune!!! Many of you have travelled with Stasa in the Serbian Banat and Batschka, or are planning to do so in near future. What a great opportunity to meet Stasa right here on our soil. This scribe has been advised that the 2014 program will be posted soon at www.danube-swabians.org/MtAngel. I am looking forwards to meet Stasa and you come September! Greetings from Vancouver Island, Rosina T. Schmidt www.hrastovac.net
Some information on the book is available at http://www.banatbooks.com/FamilienbuchList.htm PS: The Grabatz book can be ordered from Grabatz HOG, Alfred Ivanov, Am Hasenlauf 23, D-67591 Offstein; There is some Email information on the web site. I just mailed him cash US post to Germany and in a couple of weeks the book arrived. It is a two book set in hard cover that requires about 4 inches of shelve space and cost a bit more than some of the CD books. I only have one direct line from Grabatz for my family, but several of my distant cousins have Grabatz connections and the books have been a good resource. Mike, Maria Completion of the St Hubert family book is taking much longer than expected. Poor Karen is doing all the heavy lifting and the cross indexing of the families is an unexpectedly heavy burden. Anyway, I went through our draft and find we have Magdalena in our file. The family block is pasted below. For Gr Kikinda data you will have to wait until Martin Block finishes his Gr Kikinda family book. I just realized that the st Hubert etc family book ends at about 1850. The authors are writing a post 1850 that I believe will be available later this year.
