    3. Olivera, Yes, Jakob Bruck came to North Dakota in 1897. His wife and three daughters followed a year later. I did not know about the marriage of the daughter Susanna. What was her married name? I see that Jakob is in the 1900, 1910 and 1920 North Dakota census so they must have returned to the Banat sometime after World War I. They lived in Dickinson. Likely the daughter Susanna lived in Dickinson as well. Unfortunately the birth records for Dickinson are not readily available at this time. The three daughters of Jakob and Elisabeth, Anna, Elisabeth and Maria would easily have been of marriageable age by 1920. Perhaps one or more of them were also married in ND. 3. Hi, Janet -- If I remember correctly we share several lineages through GSN, and several years ago you sent me a photocopy of Petri's "Herkunftsorte der groszsanktnikolauser Kolonisten", which has been very helpful over the years (thank you again). That's an interesting idea about Schwerbach in Rhaunen, but I think Schwarzenbach is correct. I can verify that Johann Hermann Lenhardt was baptized in Rhaunen. Kirchenbuch 1 (1687-1723) (FHL Film 0556038 item 1), page 20, Taufen for 1707 has an entry for 13 March: 13 Martij; Susceperunt e fonte Baptismati joanni Hecter Lenard, Annæ Sophiæ conjugibus filiotum joen Hermanum Lenard, joannis Herman Schuster, Joannis Conradus Weber padrini, Elisabetha Margretha Warmannin patrina [apologies for any errors in my transcription] I can also verify that Hermann Lenhardt's children were baptized in Schwarzenbach in the Saarland (part of Nonnweiler since 1973). The Kirchenbücher for Nonnweiler for 1679-1909 (FHL films 466684 and 495115 -- I need to fix my citations for these) have entries for all of his children. For example, Barbara, baptized 29 December 1744: Anno 1744 29ta Xbris Hermannus Lehnert de Raunnen modo in Schwarzenbach et uxor ejus Anna Catharina Messin de Missig; Barbara Lehnert; honesti Joannes Weleker de Ozenh: et Barbara Klein de Schwarzenbach [apologies for any errors in my transcription] These families are also listed in relation to Rhaunen in Josef Schmieden's "Familienbuch der Kath. Pfarrei Rhaunen St. Martin 1687 bis 1900" and in relation to Schwarzenbach/Nonnweiler in Rudi Jung's "Familienbuch der katholischen Pfarrei St. Hubertus Nonnweiler für den Zeit von 1679 bis 1820". (I don't have either of these books, just the relevant family entries. I can send them to you if you are interested.) All this discussion started because I was trying to pin down when Hermann Lenhardt actually emigrated. I'm pretty sure he didn't migrate before 1762 (his youngest child was born in the Saarland in 1762), and he had to be there by March 1768 (he died in GSN in March 1768). Two of his children were married in GSN between those dates (Maria in 1765 and Johann in 1767). I think the family migrated in 1765, but have not found any document to confirm my guess. So, for now, it's an open question. Petri, Anton Peter, Herkunftsorte Der Groszsanktnikolauser Kolonisten, Mühldodrf/Inn 1991, page 16 shows Hermann as coming from Swarzenbach, Bayern. Like you, I have Hermann as being born in Rhaunen, Trier and have information from Familienbücher von Rudi Jung, 1998, Nonnweiler, (Kr. Trier),Entry 607, 608, 621, and Kirchenbuch [Rhaunen], 1, 1687-1723; FHC 0556038 item 1 that matches information. Within the municipality of Rhaunen lies a town called, Schwerbach.....wonder if this is where the Schwarzenbach came from. If so, then the documentation I have for Rhaunen above, may be accurate. Like you, still looking to verify. Janet Wind NIxon WIND/LEBER/ROOS/KLEIN/HACH/GOTZ/JAGDENTEUFELD/PHILLIP/SANSMAN/SCHAUSMANN/GAÜCH/CZENSER/BERGHART/BERNHARDT and more from GSN, Banat. If so, could you look up Johann Hermann Lenhardt or any of his family? He was born in 1707 in Rhaunen, Rheinland-Pfalz, and died in 1768 in Gro?sanktnikolaus in the Banat, but his children were apparently born in Schwarzenbach, Saarland, and he may be listed as coming from Schwarzenbach. In Gro?sanktnikolaus he's listed simply as Hermann. His wife, Anna Catharina, died in Gro?sanktnikolaus in 1784. I know of the following children: Anna Catharina, * 1738 Maria, * 1742, possibly the Anna Maria Lenhardt who married in Gro?sanktnikolaus in 1765 Barbara, * 1744 Johann, * 1746, married in Gro?sanktnikolaus in 1767 Maria Elisabetha, * 1748, died in Gro?sanktnikolaus in 1816 Agnes, * 1752 Nicolaus, * 1762 Thank you, Robert -- Robert ==== ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Thanks to everyone who responded with help on my question. I appreciate each effort. Unfortunately, my Lenhardts of Großsanktnikolaus seem to have slipped into the Banat without benefit of official documentation. ;) -- Robert ==== Robert Helfer Clarksburg, West Virginia http://rshelfer.wordpress.com
