I have looked up the information on the webpage and if I am correct the documents from before 1918 have been sent to the local authorities where the people were from. So it seems that my Zampo is probably in an archive in Budapest, Hungary. I will contact the Kriegsarchiv anyway and see if they can give me more information. Does any one have any idea how I can research the following individuals. I believe that they were born in Arad, Austro-Hungaria now Romania. Joseph Kuhn 1846 Edward Kuhn 1848 They were in the 'shipping' business navigating the Danube. Some event in 1873 caused them to leave Europe and come to the United States, possibly a war. There is possibly a younger sister named Jenny. I appreciate your help. Robyn

I am searching for the following person and her ancestors.: Still searching for info on great grandmother Emalie KIRSCHNER / KIRCHNER / KIRCHER b abt 1864 married Friedrich BAUTZ / PAUTZ of Kowatschi / Kovaci / Covaci. Friedrich born Kowatschi 1855; died Emalie and Friedrich raised family in Kowatschi. Emalie died either 1943 or 1948 (transcription hard to read). She was living at Temes 57 Kovaci in 1915 that I know of from daughter Josefa Horn's ship manifest. Also son Konrad, died during WW I in 1916 and is listed as from Kovaci. any help making a connection to Emalie and her parents etc. greatly appreciated. thank you Linda Bautz McKenna

Jody -   I am looking for information on my great grandmother's family.  Katarina Thor born October 25, 1895, married to Johann Jager in Kudritz.  Johann died of cancer in the early 1920's.  I have no further information on him or his family.  I found a record that says that Katarina's father was from Lenauheim and I wondered if anymore information might be out there.  His name was George Thor.  His second wife's name was Genovieve Koller she was the widow of Joseph Hell.  My great grandmother was the youngest of 10 and was born in 1895.  Most of this I just found a week ago.  I have always hit a brick wall when researching her family, and although I knew her, she didn't talk much, if any, about her life in Yugoslavia or her family.   I would be ever so grateful if there is someone who could help me with any information.   Thanks   Leah Ott

Dave, Do you know if the draft registration records for Banaters still living in Banat or Austria are online too? I found a Johann Zampo (I think he might be my grandmothers step father)in "Wiener Zeitung Sonntag, den 18. Juni 1916. I stumbled upon it while trying to find information on him online. According to the newspaper this Johann Zampo was a Reservefeldwebel in the Sappeurbataillon Nr. 7 and received "das Silberne Verdienstkreuz mit der Krone am Rande der Tapferkeitsmedaille". This is the first time I found anything about a Zampo. Also, do you know where I could find more information on the Sappeurbataillon Nr. 7 (list of soldiers and places the battalion has been)?
