Jerry; Oppowa and Koenigsdorf are the same place. Koenigsdorf is the German name for Oppowa. And yes, Oppowa and Oppova are spelling varients of the same place. I assume Oppowa is the prefered German version. Keep in mind that the family book only goes to 1872 so that your guy could have lived there after this time. Dave, A belated thank you for checking for Remillong entries in the Koenigsdorf FB for me. I meant to originally verify that FB does include the town of Oppowa as I have seen referenced? Also that my gg-uncle spelled it "Oppova" in several places but I assumed that was the same place? Please correct me if I am mistaken. Thanks again, Jerry Remillong ________________________________ From: "banat-request@rootsweb.com" <banat-request@rootsweb.com> To: banat@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, September 1, 2010 12:01:26 AM Subject: BANAT Digest, Vol 5, Issue 238 Today's Topics: 1. With name duplication occuring, I have seen it happen in my family tree where two people of the same name were born the same year -- then you have to determine which is yours -- especially if all you have to go on is the approx. year. Another hint to finding a person is looking to the godparent if listed; and looking for the marriage witness, if listed. Since many people honored the godparent by asking them to be marriage witness, you can see a connection. Hope this helps a little. Several years ago I had a copy of a Kalendar ... now I can't remember which one. Not sure what happened to it ... or if I gave it to someone. I did find two copies on ebay which is how I found this one. You might want to try ebay.com -- type in Kalendar - Hungarian and see what comes up. I did not pay very much when I purchased it on ebay -- just a few dollars. Susan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank A. Hi All, Thanks for the hint re: immigration list access at ancestry.com, Rosina. May I ask if anyone has a current email address for Hans Repp who is listed as the person to contact for the Klek village family book on the banat book website. The listed email does not work. My Johann SCHMIDT is supposed to have been born in Klek on February 11, 1833. and I would like to verify that. Thanks for any help. best regards, Bobbie
The correct email address fro Hans Repp should be Hans.Repp@t-online.de (with 2 p's) Thanks for bringing this to my attention! We'll get it corrected on the site. --Karen On Sep 7, 2010, at 3:58 PM, ARTBUM@aol.com wrote: > > Hi All, > Thanks for the hint re: immigration list access at ancestry.com, Rosina. > > May I ask if anyone has a current email address for Hans Repp who is > listed as the person to contact for the Klek village family book on the banat > book website. Hi Hilde, You might also refer to the list on the BanatBooks site at www.bantbooks.com. The site was originally set up to help with ordering the new book for Heufeld-Massdorf, but there is also a list of other titles available. The titles from the AVBF can be ordered through Dave Dreyer or myself. I made an effort to contact the book authors to get current info on which books are still available, and whom to contact for ordering, and in some cases, there is info on how many copies are in stock. If you, or other List members, find that any info needs updating, please let me know at karen@golden-hills.com, and we'll get it corrected. Paul That is great news for you. Question: How did you get the Archives to provide the info? I have written to the Archives in Zrenjanin and they confirm having the birth records for Ecka but that I need to have permission from the Secretary of Culture in order to access the records. A list of the various archives in northern Serbia can be found at http://www.vojvodina.com/kultura/html/archives.htm. I had to do a Google search to find the website of the actual Zrenjanin archives. My ancestor's microfilm was listed at http://www.arhivzrenjanin.org.rs/index2.htm. (Beodra is now part of the municipality of Novi Becej). The archive required exact dates of events, as much as possible. ***************
