I am in search of church records for the following village in Banat (all of the names denote the same village). Torontalvasarhely (Hungarian) or Vasarhely Debeljatscha (German) Debeljaca (Serbian) I believe the city I am looking for is just north of Belgrade. I have found several entries in the Jabuka (a neighboring town) that list this city of birth. The religious preference in the town is unknown. Thank you, Rita

Hi Sharon, There is a new, updated copy of the Darowa family book currently being printed. The first edition (1789-2009) has 4 pages of Wagendorf entries. Which Wagnendorf family line is of particular interest to you? There are some later entries in the book I have. It is possible that edition 2 will have additional and/or corrected information. You can contact Martin Mahalek if you are interested in purchasing the book. Let me know if you need his e-mail address. I can tell you that the Darowa book is really well-done. Martin made a point of contacting people with Darowa roots here in the US to ask for updates too. Sincerely, Cathy Teufel O'Neill In Darowa: Mahalek and Bartl lines
I have information about the Wagendorf family in the Darova Lugosch Timis area, but only up to 1835. I'm looking for ancestors born after 1834 and up to 1900. Does anyone have a family book or know of another source where I might find more recent entries? Sharon Seattle ----- Original Message -----

You may be right about the women being sisters. Godparents are often a strong clue. Susan Clarkson ________________________________ From: Paul Hough <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, March 2, 2014 10:20 AM Subject: [BANAT-L] FW: Hatzfeld lookup - Nikolaus & Katharina Martin Thanks to those of you who responded to my earlier request. In case anyone was interested, I was interested in the daughter Sybilla, who was mentioned in the Familienbuch Johannisfeld. Fortunately for me, the Fam'buch Joh' listed the godparents for Sibylla's first five children. Among them were Franz Weinhard (godparent for children 1, 2, and 5), Eva Martin Gill (for children 1 and 4), and Elisabeth Martin Weinhard (for children 2 and 3). According to Fam'buch Joh', Eva Martin was born in Hatzfeld circa 1810, and married Jakob Giel in 1830. Elisabeth Martin was born circa 1810, place unknown, and married Franz Weinhard, also in 1830. Sybilla Martin was born in Hatzfeld in 1810 and married Johann Mollink in 1832. No source lists the three women as sisters, but I figured it was a good guess. Eva Martin Giel was my third-great-grandmother. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
