    1. [BANAT-L] Searching Pardan and Johannisfeld for HILLIER (HILJER) and SCHÄDL (Schedel)
    2. rk carl
    3. I’m looking for suggestions on where to go next in my research and hoping this list will have some suggestions. I have found data on -- HILLIER (HILJER), Nikolaus and his wife SCHÄDL (Schedel), Elisabeth contained in the Karl Benz Setschan Familienbuch, but nothing on their vital details. Based on the birthdate/location of their children (details on children at end of message), I have created a list of locations and approximate dates: Beodra (Novo Miloševo) 1839-1845 Setchan (Secanj) 1849 Johannisfeld (Iohanisfeld, Romania) 1852-1859 Pardan (Medja) 1866 Based on where the children were born and lived, it seems like the best place to find death details on HILLIER (HILJER), Nikolaus and his wife SCHÄDL (Schedel), Elisabeth would be in Setschan, Johannisfeld or Pardan. I didn’t find anything in Setschan. It’s my understanding that information from the Familienbuch Johannisfeld was included in the Setschan book, but perhaps it would be worthwhile to check? Also, I noted that the Pardan book only includes 1801 - 1836/1835/1835. Finally, to my knowledge there is not a Beodra book, correct? Could someone with Johannisfeld and Pardan books look for HILLIER (HILJER), Nikolaus and his wife SCHÄDL (Schedel), Elisabeth and let me know if my assumptions seem correct, or if you find anything please let me know. Thank you Renée Carl Washington DC HILLIER (HILJER), Nikolaus and his wife SCHÄDL (Schedel), Elisabeth Children Susanna * 1839 Beodra oo 14.02.1870 Johannisfeld (Johann Ehardt) † 23.04.1872 Johannisfeld Margaretha * um 1849 Setschan Johann * um 1852 Johannisfeld Josef * um 1854 Johannisfeld Maria Anna * um 1856 Johannisfeld Elisabeth * um 1859 Johannisfeld oo 21.01.1878 Setschan (Valentin Berkessel)† 09.08.1932 Setschan. 3. Hi Dr. Frank, Have no fear.  The name Kranichstaetten has not been forgotten.  It is written below Darowa on the cover of the first edition, and most likely will appear on the cover of the second edition as well. I actually visited both Darowa and Busiasch with my husband when  we were in the Banat a while back.  Bad Busiasch must have been quite a draw in its day.  We even sampled the water. Hi All, Martin Mahalek has just informed me that the Darowa book is ready to be sent out.  It costs $110, including postage.  The first edition of the book was over 1048 pages and an excellent resource.  This second edition contains additions and corrections to the first edition, and should be a treasure for Darowa researchers. If you need to contact Martin, let me know.  I will send you his e-mail address. Cathy Teufel O'Neill Researching Bartl and Mahalek in Darowa

    3. Thank you so much for sharing this delightful story, Brigitte. Too bad not all of us can understand Schwowisch, for a lot of the humour and charm gets lost in translation. Here is my translation: During the Easter holiday, we children would always visit our godfathers and godmothers to collect our gifts. If we had been fortunate enough at the time of our baptism, our parents would have been generous in choosing numerous godfathers and godmothers for us. If that was the case, it paid off when it was time to gather the gifts. I was very fortunate in this respect. I was allowed to visit twelve locations on this occasion. Considering that the godfathers and godmothers were spread all over the village, one can appreciate that I was occupied for a whole day. .My last station was always my grandmother's house, not that she was my godmother, but because she always wanted to give me a present. At that particular time, when it was time to gather my gifts, I was six years old. Back home, at Easter time, the grass was already long enough to make a nest for the Easter Bunny. I don't know to this day why my grandmother gave me a sleigh that Easter. > But I think she said that Waanersphatt (Uncle or Godfather Waaner?) was not > able to finish making it before. I would have to lie if I said that my > surprise at that time was greater than my joy. And whatever present I got, > I was determined never to leave it behind. 3. Hi all, Just wanted to say thank you to all over the last 12 months. Today it has been a year since my dad Franz Josef Kaiser (born 5/5/1949) was murdered while on holiday. I has been a really tough year for me without family, but I hope that some day soon I will locate my Kaiser family that came from Grob Betschkerek, Ernsthausen & Sankt George an der Bega. Sadly at the age of 38, I am the oldest surviving Kaiser in my line. Once again thank you for making my days a little better. I have learned a lot about the Banat history and the towns my grandparents and great grandparents grew up in through reading posts made to this list. So thankyou for being such a wonderful group! According to the Dolatz family book, Johann Kittl, *7 Mar 1884 Gier is the illegitimate son of Franziska Kittl and Nikolaus Schneider. Both parents from Setschan. Four additional kids from Franziska(without a father) are listed in the Setschan family book.
