    1. [BANAT-L] Fwd: Help with 4x Great-Grandfather Vienna Registration

    3. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: William Schwiegeraht <bswag@yahoo.com> Date: Thu, Jan 12, 2017 at 6:00 AM Subject: [BANAT-L] Help with 4x Great-Grandfather Vienna Registration To: "banat@rootsweb.com" <banat@rootsweb.com> Hello to all,I am looking for someone with a copy of Sammelwerk donauschwäbischer Kolonisten who might locate some records for me.My 4x great grandfather, Johann Schwiegerath (or Schwickerath) is cited in the Johannisfeld Family Book (Susan Clarkson) as registering on 19apr1766 in Vienna and I would like to get actual proof of this. He would have been registering with his wife (Barbara??) and at least one child (Peter) who was 2 years old at that time. The town of origin (Malberg, in Bitburg County) is listed as well, but I would eventually like to see the actual records myself to verify this home town and identify any possible relocations before he left for Vienna. I have found a good deal of information on the town of Malberg, but I have not had success locating Johann (born 1731) there. Church records stored in Trier apparently start in 1744. Also, I do not know what the source below (Qu: W/K 5658) means - can anyone help me with that? Here is the cited record from Johannisfeld Family Book; Familie Schwiegerath stammt aus Malberg, Kr. Bitburg,Luxemburg; Johann Schwiegerrath ist am 19.04.1766 in Wien registiert. (Qu: W/K 56/58) The Schwiegerath family came from Malberg, BitburgCounty, Luxembourg. Johann Schwiegerathregistered in Vienna on April 19, 1766 (source: W/K 56/58) Thanks very much!Bill Schwiegeraht ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to BANAT-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Bonjour, At the end of the Bogarosch Familienbuch is a list of locations from where individuals came, if not from Bogarosch. Some of the locations are area villages, other locations are across Europe or even the US. There is a large list for Lumxemburg and a small list for Perl. Martelange and Tintange are not listed, although there is a Marklingen, Luxemburg. They seem to be listed and sorted by their German version. >From Perl there are several Schöders and Schreders. No Gauls. >From Marklingen there is only Beck. >From Luxemburg there is one Schreder and no Gaul. The Schreder from Luxemburg is Michael Schreder *er 1701 and wife Maria N.N. Their 5 kids are born in Perl. A notation indicates they registered in Vienna in 1769? "WK 107/100 Michael Schröder, 8 Pers., Bauer, aus dem Luxemburgischen, Wien 01.06.1769." (#S625 on page 191) There is a set of books that list people who registered in Vienna called Sammelwerk Donauschwäbischer Kolonisten by Stefan Stader. Perhaps this is what is referenced. Hope this helps. 2. Diana, Richard, Au contraire, there are two very useful sources covering the origin of Banaters in this area. 1 Charles Amann, l’emigration des lorrains vers le Banat et la Batschka au 18eme siècle 1750/1803. 2 Anton Kraemer, “Luxemburgische Ansiedler-familien in Banater Ortschaftern (1763-1788)”, an extensive voume of “de Familjefuerscher”, Association Luxembourgeoise de Genealogie et d’Heroldique”, January 2005 For your purpose I would expect that Kraemer’s article would be the most useful and I find numerous families coming from the localities you note. 3. Hello Sharon! From your post, To my knowledge, Lugoj (Ger.: Lugosch) parish records are kept in Caras-Severin archive in Caransebes. If you are pursuing the CIVIL records which are not being kept in the archives but in the *primaria*, I am not sure if you will able to obtain them (at least in an cheap, fast and non-bureaucratic manner, but this is another topic). But, I believe that the inclusive years for the parish records for Lugoj extend beyond the year of 1900 and I think that the last year they have in their parish books collection should be 1907, which means that you would be able to get what you need in the archive of Caras-Severin in Caransebes. What was the religion of your ancestors from Lugoj?
