My connection to that name has not been established and I have found very little help. Here is where the name appears in my Mauler/Mahler line. It is the Naturalization papers for Herman Mahler where Henry Appel & Valentine Hase (Hax?) were witnesses, so they certainly must have known the Mauler family. Then there is a John Appel on the 1860 Baltimore census who was born about the same time as Herman Mahler. If you think there would be any connection to your Appel family, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
