Happy New Year! 2002 is off to a great start at "Baltimore City Nineteenth-Century Photos" web page. Several new group photos have been submitted, each with 20 or more subjects. Several are identified but most aren't. Here are some of the names: Yost, Ditzel, Gill, Hite, Martin. Bonnie Proctor has submitted three group photos from the Baltimore Retort and Brickyard dating from about 1890 to 1910 or so. Her ancestor Jakob Yost is pictured in these photos. Best of all, she tells how our website led her to find these photos in the first place! Bill Gill submitted a school class photo from Bare Hills School dating about 1912 with Morris Gill, Sarah and Russ Ditzel. The surnames Hite and Martin are on the back of the photo but we don't know who they are in this great picture of a teacher, a flag and lots of elementary students. Bill's cousin provides some history of the school. The address of this site is: http://freepages.hobbies.rootsweb.com/~ruppert/ There's another new feature on the site ... a guestbook. See what others have said and then leave your notes for all the surfers to see. Baltimore City 19th-Century Photos is a website dedicated to photographic images of and/or by Baltimoreans. Sometimes we stretch the 19th century a bit, sometimes you'll find portraits, sometimes buildings and street scenes, and hopefully you'll find someone from your family that you'll recognize. Please visit and don't be bashful about submitting your old family photos to be shared on the web! Gary 10 January 2002 Baltimore http://home.att.net/~g.ruppert
